This indenture made this the twenty third day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eighteen hundred and seventy eight between JAMES RECTOR of the State of North Carolina and County of Buncombe of the one part and MICAJAH RECTOR of the said State and County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for the sum of one hundred dollars to him the said MICAJAH RECTOR in hand paid by the said JAMES RECTOR for a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres lying and being in the State and County aforesaid and on the south side of French Broad River beginning as follows viz.: First beginning on a white pine near the head of JOSEPH MISES Branch, thence north one hundred and fifteen poles to a dogwood on the head of a hollow, thence east one hundred and forty poles to another dogwood, thence south one hundred and fifteen poles to a stake, thence to the place of beginning. Together with all the rights, members, and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said JAMES RECTOR his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever and I the said MICAJAH RECTOR do bind myself my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend this above the rights and against the claim of any other person or persons claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this day and date above written and in the presence of us.
