Joshua is first found in the 1810 Census as between 35 and 40 years of age, with two girls under 10 and a wife between 16 and 26 (Polly). In 1820 he had two boys under 10, one girl under 10, two girls between 10 and 16 and wife between 16 and 26 (Lucy). He was a farmer. By 1830, Joshua had six family members employed in agriculture but only one who could read or write. And in 1840 there were a total of 11 household members. It is likely that Joshua died sometime between 1840 and the next census of 1850. (Although a Lucinda Lowe was sold 100 acres at 5 cents/acre along the last prong of Moravian Creek from the state of North Carolina on May 17, 1854).
