This web page is primarily for sharing my genealogical photographs. There aren't many places on the Internet that will allow one to store such huge files as these indefinitely free of charge, and for that I am very greatful to RootsWeb. Their generosity makes it possible for those of use who wish to share our photographic material with others to do so. Please see my Rootsweb WorldConnect
Ancestry and Relatives of Ron S. Dotson
genealogy page for my pedigree chart. My primary web page is called
Centerfire and you are invited to visit there as well, but it isnt about Genealogy. I recommend that you download the larger picture files below by right-clicking on their highlighted hypertext filenames with your mouse and selecting either
save-target or
save-picture (depending upon your browser) rather than trying to view them on-line, because unless you have a very fast connection some of them will take quite a while to download. Be sure to remember where you saved them on your computer so that you can then view them at your leisure after downloading. In case any relatives happen to visit this page and don't recognize my name, I should mention that I was born in Central California in the 1940's, and that my paternal grandparents were Henry Oliver Dotson and Julia May Dempsy. I hesitate to mention my maternal grandfather's name because that would yield my mother's maiden name which I do not wish to disseminate widely for obvious reasons; however, my maternal grandmother was Virgie Leona Murphy. I moved to Southern California in the late sixties and have been working in the computer field ever since. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

- The Murphy Family Top row, left to right: Julia May Murphy, Virgie Leona Murphy, Georgia Edna Murphy, LeRoy Edwin Murphy, Emma Gabilla Murphy*, Roxie Meldrien Murphy, Lillie Jane Murphy, Myrtle Ellender Murphy. Bottom Row, Left to Right: George Winfield Murphy, Grace Darlene Murphy, Leovicy Ann Adams.
- * Note1: In the photo I was working from, it looked like someone had taken a separate picture of Emma Gabilla Murphy, and then had trimmed it and pasted it into the original photo, and had then taken a picture of the composite photo in an amateurish attempt to try to make it appear as though she was actually in the original. Obviously she was not, as is clear from the different background and oversized head. I have not tried to correct that defect, but in some of the photos below, I have tried to touch up some of the scratches and tears that were in the copy I was working from. The ones below marked Unretouched are as-is from the scanner.
- Note2: This is a single picture in various resolutions, that was originally captured in .max format, which is the native format of my scanner.
I scanned it at different resolutions, and have converted some of the scans to .jpg format for uploading to this web page since Jpeg seems to be about the most universal format around, but I also have most of them in .png, .tif, .mix, and .bmp formats and will be happy to convert them to whatever format anyone who wants them would like if you will send me an email specifying which photo(s) you want and what format you want it converted into). I wouldn't normally have scanned a single picture in so many different resolutions, but I was working with an original for which I did not have a photocopy (actually, it wasn't a true original, but it was very old).
- More Murphy pictures, including some relatives. These photographs (including the Murphy Family photo above) were left to my mother by Virgie Leona Murphy (February 04, 1906 July 20, 1995) after she passed away at her home in Springfield, Missouri. She had written the name of the person(s) in each picture on the back of the picture, and in some cases made additional comments as well. Those comments are described in the table beneath the picture image files.

"Uncle Elza and Aunt Maggie Washborn" [Note: I think this is Elza Washborn and his wife Maggie. Elza was the brother of Mercie Jane Hannah Washborn, who was the mother of Leovicy Ann Adams,b1865, who was the mother of Virgie Leona Murphy. So that would make Elza and Maggie the Great-Uncle and Great-Aunt-in-law of Virgie Leona Murphy] |

- Virgie Leona Murphy's shared remembrances.
On occasion of Grace Darlene Murphy's eightieth birthday, Gracie's son and his wife wrote down some of the recollections of my grandmother Virgie Leona Murphy (Gracie's sister), and had them printed in a small booklet which they distributed to the immediate family members. The pages shown below are images of that document that I've scanned into my computer and uploaded to this web page. The front and back cover pages had a bright red design on them. Apparently the red coloring was water soluble, because somewhere along the line it got wet and the red coloration soaked through into the other pages. That is why you'll see reddish stains throughout most of the pages. I scanned the cover page in black and white mode only, and after realizing that the print beneath the red coloration was virtually illegible that way, I scanned the remaining pages in color. Unfortunately, I neglected to go back and rescan the cover page in color as well. Except for the cover page, the images were scanned in 24 bit RGB color at 600 dpi resolution. At that resolution, each original image requires almost 100 Megabytes of disk space, so I've reduced them down to a more manageable size for posting here (ie; about 200 to 300 KB each). Even at that reduced resolution, you'll likely have to use the horizontal and vertical scroll bars to see the entire images (some are in portrait mode and some are in landscape mode), or you'll have to reduce them further using a graphics viewer on your own computer. I thought that would be preferable to providing images that might be illegible on some computer screens. The notations you see in the margins, etc., were made by someone (probably Virgie) after it was printed.
