Twin girls were b orn and died/buried at sea. The family settled in Erin Twp. , Wellington Co., Ontario near Acton. In the mid 1860's th e family moved to Glenelg Twp., Grey Co., Ontario. In 187 1 the entire family moved to Sullivan Twp., Grey Co., Onta rio near Chesley...where the older sons had started a saw m ill. The hamlet where they lived is now called Mooresburg . By the 1910's, many of the brothers had moved out to west ern Canada.

Note: ........................................................... . .......... .... "The Chesley Enterprise," Jan. 18, 1894 : Mooresburg- Mrs. Wallace of Woodstock was the guest of Mrs. Thos. M oore the early part of this week. She is now visiting amon g her Mooresburg relatives.

"The Chesley Enterprise," Mar. 30th, 1899: Personals- Mr. Cunningham of Greenock, had his collar bone broke n when on a visit to his sister, Mrs. Thos. Moore, last wee k. He was watering his horse when the animal became scare d of the train and in the excitement hit Mr. C. causing hi m to fall on the ice with the result indicated above.

"The Chesley Enterprise," Aug. 30, 1900: Personals- Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Moore of Oliphant, were in Chesley y esterday on their way to the marriage of a niece at Mooresb urg.



"Chesley Enterprise," Chesley, Ont., July, 1922 - The Lat e Mrs. Moore Mrs. Thos. Moore, who passed away at the home of her da ughter in Regina on July 23rd, was born in Nichol Tp., Coun ty of Wellington, on Sept. 11th, 1840, of Irish parents wh o came to this country when there was but one house in Guel ph. The family remained in Nichol until after the Russia n War when they moved to Greenock Tp. where the subject o f our sketch was united in marriage to Thomas Moore, who wa s then in the sash and door business in Collingwood. The y lived in that town for four years and then moved to Moore sburg, 8th Con., Sullivan, which was named after the family . Mr. Moore leased his sawmill to his brothers and moved t o Chesley where he started a sash and door factory and oper ated it for ten years when it burned, and Mr. and Mrs. Moor e and family moved back to Sullivan, remaining there unti l 1887, when they came to Chesley again, remaining here fo r twelve years, Mr. Moore going into the coal and wood busi ness and starting a sash and door factory which was afterwa rds sold to Krug Bros. & Co. Mr. and Mrs. Moore moved fro m Chesley to Oliphant and in 1916 the factory and sawmill i n Wiarton was sold to their son, T. J. Moore, since which t ime they have made their home with members of their famil y who are, T.J. of Wiarton, Mrs. Ede of Woodstock, Dr. Samu el Moore of Regina and Mrs. John McLaughlin of Regina, at w hose home Mrs. Moore passed away. The remains arrived in Chesley on Friday evening from R egina, and the funeral took place on Saturday at 2:30 p. m . to the family burying plot in Chesley cemetery, Rev. J. A . McLachlan, pastor of Wesley church, having charge of th e service. There were quite a number of old friends presen t to show a last tribute to a self-sacrificing pioneer moth er who was devoted to her family and a loyal member of th e Methodist church, being a constant attendant at all the m eans of grace until her health failed.

January 29, 1925: One of the most disastrous fires in Wiar ton occurred Sunday when the bed frame factory belong ing to T. J. Moore was completely destroyed. The los s is estimated by Mr. Moore at not less than $20,000. a nd the insurance amounts to only $8,000, so this loss i s a heavy one.

Newspaper Clipping, Dated 1948 - FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN HO SPITAL Thos. J. Moore, Wiarton, Once in Business Here Thomas J. Moore, one of Wiarton's best known and most h ighly esteemed citizens, passed away on Thursday in the Sau geen Memorial Hospital at Southampton, where he had bee n a patient for the past two weeks. The late Mr. Moore, wh o was 74 years of age, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T homas Moore, and was born at Mooresburg, near Chesley, bu t had been a continuous resident of Wiarton since 1911, tak ing a very active interest in community affairs. Decease d had been in business in Chesley before going to Wiarton t o operate a sawmill and manufacture wooden products. He wa s fire chief there for a number of years and also served th e town as a member of the Board of Education. A member o f St. John's United Church, he served on the Board of Stewa rds and was also a member of the choir for several years . In Chesley he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, while i n Wiarton he was honorary president of the branch of the Ca nadian Legion. In 1913 the late Mr. Moore was united in ma rriage to Miss Ethel Moon of Wiarton, who survives to mour n his passing, along with three sons, Thomas William of Day ton, Ohio, Kenneth of Aylmer and Douglas of Wiarton, and on e daughter, Marie (Mrs. J. P. Uffen) of Ottawa. Another so n, Russell, made the supreme sacrifice overseas in 1942. O f a family of nine, one brother, Dr. S. E. Moore of Regina , and one sister, Mrs. J. A. McLauchland of Dunnville, surv ive.

February 11, 1937 Mr. Ken Moore, the teller in the local br anch of the Royal Bank will be moved to Hepworth a week fro m tomorrow to substitute for a member of that branch. Thi s is Ken's fist move and as the Hepworth bank is composed o f only a two man staff, he will probably benefit by the cha nge.
May 6, 1937 Mr. Archie Hatt has resigned his position as te ller at the Hepworth Royal Bank. He will be replaced by Mr . K. Moore of Wiarton.
