JOHN WESLEY & WILLIE KATHERINE (CALLAHAN) PHILLIPS, picture from about 1935
John Wesley Phillips was my grandfather. He married Willie Katherine Callahan around 1890 in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. They had seven children:
Lizzie Mae Phillips (1891 - 1946)
James Hubert Phillips (1893 - 1967)
Otho Benjamin Phillips (1894 - 1980)
Walter Lee Phillips (1896 - 1971)
Annie Phillips (1898 - about 1982)
Bertha Phillips (1901 - 1988)
Marvin L. Phillips (1903 - 1969)
The Phillips family moved from the Indian Territory to Comanche County, Texas around 1905. John Wesley Phillips homesteaded a small farm there. They remained in Comanche County, Texas for the rest of their lives.
John Wesley Phillips died in 1939. Willie Katherine (Callahan) Phillips died in 1950. They are buried in the White Point Cemetery, seven miles outside of Comanche, Texas.
