ALBERT VERNON NEWMAN, third child of John Franklin and Nancy Emma Newman, was born September 30, 1890 at the Family Homestead, Garrison, Texas. In November, 1915, he married, age 24, BONNIE HARTT, age 24. Bonnie was born January 9, 1891. Vernon spent his early days working on his father's farm. In the mid 1920's he worked the farm of L. King near Arlam, Texas. He became ill with rheumatism and was unable to do his farming. The town of Arlam made cash contributions for his stay in the Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas. While he was away for treatment, the town came together and completed the planting and gathering of his crops. Vernon returned to Arlom, but had to discontinue the farm work. In the 1930's he earned his living with government WPA construction. He later moved to the McDuffy farm where he stayed until the early 1940's. During World War II, he went to Houston and worked in a defense plant. After the war he stayed in Houston about seven years and became a Janitor for the Spring Branch Independent School District. He later returned to Garrison, Texas and purchased nine acres and built a home. Here he farmed and lived until his death, age 75, on April 11, 1965. Bonnie Died June 30, 1980. age 89, in Garrison, Texas. Both are buried at Holly Springs Cemetery, Appleby, Texas.

1. BERNIECE NEWMAN, first child of Albert and Bonnie Newman, was born January 6, 1917. Bernice married RUSSELL E. WILEY on September 30, 1958. Russell was born October 16, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. To this union no children were born. Russell died, age 52, on November 6, 1968. Bernice died on February 23, 1995. Both are buried at Brookside Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
2. VAUDDIE NEWMAN, second child of Vernon and Bonnie Newman, was born June 22, 1920 in Garrison, Texas. She married HERSHEL MARKHAM on October 27, 1940/ Hershel was born July 7, 1912. He worked as a Taxi Driver and Bus Driver. To this union no children were born. Hershel died, age 69, July 10, 1981. Vauddie died January 26, 1991. Both are buried at Holly Springs Cemetery, Appleby, Texas.
3. ARCHIE ROY NEWMAN, twin son of Vernon and Bonnie Newman was born May 18, 1924 in Garrison, Texas. According to records these are the first twins born into the Newman Family. Roy attended Garrison High School until he dropped out in the eighth grade. He helped his father on the family farm until January 1942 when he and his first cousin D. H. Newman joined the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corp.). They were sent to Parkdale, Colorado near Canon City, Colorado. Whey they closed all the C.C.C. camps, Roy and D.H. were separated and Roy was sent to Monument, Colorado and then to Laramie, Wyoming. At this time all 18 year olds were required to register with the draft for military service. He registered in Laramie, Wyoming. He was discharged from the C.C.C. on July 9, 1942. He returned to Texas and re-registered with the Nacogdoches Draft Board. While he waited for his papers to be forwarded to Nacogdoches his twin brother, Troy, was working for the Galveston Draft Board and got him work on a dredge boat. He later went to work for a Houston shipyard. He worked there until he was drafted into Army Air Force on July 12, 1943. Roy was discharged, after the war, on February 24, 1946. He returned to the family farm in Garrison, Texas. He determined that farming was not for him and he re-enlisted into the Army Air Force where he spent the next twenty years. Roy married LENORA ROGERS on June 2, 1951 in Lordsburg, Hidalgo County, New Mexico. Lenora was born in Amsterdam, New York on May 17, 1922. Roy retired from the Air Force on February 28, 1967 in Hamilton Air Force Base, California. They moved to Brentwood, California where Roy worked for the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Livermore, California. He again retired from the Federal Government on October 27, 1984. Roy and Lenora moved to Rockbridge Baths, Virginia to be near the daughter of Lenora.
4. TROY NEWMAN, twin son of Vernon and Bonnie Newman, was born May 18, 1924. Troy married HAZEL BARRETT. Hazel was born December 9, 1924. To this union CHARLES RAY and KENNETH WAYNE NEWMAN were born August 8, 1949 and July 25, 1951. Troy died May 25, 1993 and is buried at Forest Park Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
5. ALBERT VERNON NEWMAN, JR.., fifth child of Vernon and Bonnie Newman, was born February 8, 1929 and died, age 2, on August 27, 1931. He is buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Garrison, Texas.
