     Ann Spicer was born circa 1632 at Gravesend, Kings County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Spicer and Micah Grant.^2,3 Ann Spicer died after 1709.¹

     Thomas Spicer was born circa 1603 at Manhattan Island, New York.¹ He married Micah Grant circa 1630.² Thomas Spicer died before 1658.¹

     Hezekiah Spires Jr. was born circa 1796 at Lincoln Parish, Georgia.¹ He died in 1822 at Lincoln Parish, Georgia.¹
     He is listed in the 1820 Lincoln County, GA census living with his wife and one slave. He left no will but an inventory, appraisal and sale of his estate are on file in the Inv. and App Book 1 p 134-6 (3/23/1822 and 3/29/1822) and Annual reports Book T p 142 (ll/13/1823) in the Lincoln County, GA courthouse. The value of his estate was $340.93. Samuel McCorkle was appointed the administrator of his estate (Minute Book V p49 Lincoln County). Samuel most likely was his brother-in-law.¹

     Mary Ann Spires was born on 28 October 1821 at Monroe County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Hezekiah Spires Jr. and Margaret McCorkle.² Mary Ann Spires married an unknown person on 8 March 1840 at Monroe County, Georgia.^3,2 She died on 11 May 1905 at Monroe County, Georgia, at age 83.² She was buried after 11 May 1905 at Paran Baptist Church Cemetery, Blount, Monroe County, Georgia, Paran Baptist Church is located on Indian Springs Road at the intersection of Georgia Route 42. Her grave marker reads: "She has gone to her home in Heaven, And all her afflictions are over."²
     Her name is spelled "Squires" on her marriage license, but in the estate records of her father it is spelled as "Spires." Her mother, Margaret, married Jesse H. Roberts, the borther of her husband after Mary Ann's fatjer died. Samuel McCorkle was appointed Mary Ann's guardian (Minute Book V 3/3/1823 p23 in Lincoln County, GA courthouse) after her father died. Jesse H. Roberts became her guardian sometimes before 1838 (Annual Return Book #4 1838-1847 pp193-260 1/23/1841 and 4/18/1842 in Lincoln County, GA courthouse) because Samuel McCorkle became insolvent. A record dated Feb. 1838 in Court of Ordinary Annual Returns Book C 1831-1856 Monroe County confirms Jesse as her gardian.²

     Zachariah Spires was born on 31 August 1794 at Lincoln Parish, Georgia.^1,2 He married Lavinia Roberts, daughter of John Arthur Roberts and Nancy Hargis, in 1817 at Lincoln Parish, Georgia.^1,2,3 Zachariah Spires died on 27 April 1866 at Lincoln Parish, Georgia, at age 71.²

     Nancy Spivey was born in 1845 at Georgia.¹ Jesse Taliaferro Carter married Nancy Spivey about 1866 probably in Warren County, GA.¹
