William Asa Hargis was born circa 1650 at England.¹ He was the son of George Hargase and Susannah Lea.^1,3 William Asa Hargis died on 19 March 1685 at Virginia.¹ He was probate His testators are sisted as Jno. Draper, Oliver Rockefort, and Eliza Huskave. on 19 November 1685 at Maryland were also named in the probate.^1,4
William Asa Hargis purchased land from Thomas Lea Hargis in 1668 at Charles County, Maryland, In 1668 Tlhomas Lea and William, his brother, patented a tract of land in Charles County, MD, near Zachiah Swamp. The patent, "Hargis Hope" is on file in the records of Annapolis, Maryland, as well as their wills.^5,6 IN 1669 THOMAS AND WILLIAM HARGIS, POSSIBLE SONS OF GEORGE, PATTENED A TRACT OF LAND IN CHARL ES COUNTY, MARYLAND, NEAR ZACHARY SWAMP.¹
