     Shadrack Hargis served in theRevolutionary War in 1776 as a soldier in the Revolutionary War.1 Shadrack served as a captain in the North Carolina Militia during the American Revolution. For his service he was granted land in Tennessee. His grant was Number 3104 issued July 10, 1788 and enteed October 28, 1783 for 2100 acres on both sides of the Lessahatcher River. This rive runs from Memphis to Lacamie(?) on the present Route 64 Highway about 65 or 70 miles in length. It crosses Shelby, Hayood and Madison Counties.6,3
