Matthew, age 21, was married to Mary Williston, daughter of James Williston , Esq. and Ann Belgrave, Tuesday, May 6, 1721 in Maryland, British Colony. Matthew, age 37, was married to Jane Clayton Thursday, May 23, 1737 in Bedford Co., Virginia, British Colony. Matthew died in 1758 in Bedford Co., Virginia, British Colony, at age 58 years. Matthew had his will probated Monday, November 27, 1758 in Bedford Co., Virginia, British Colony.
He was commissioned a Colonel of the Virginia Militia during the Indian War of 1754. In 1757 he was appointed Sheriff of Bedford County, Virginia.
