     Conrad was born on Friday, September 5, 1845 in Doerrnbach, Germany. Conrad was married to Louisa Piatz circa 1866. Conrad died before January 1, 1920.
     Michigan Biography
Representitive from the First District of Wayne county, in 1883 and 1887, city of Detroit, was born in Doerrnbach, on the Rhine, Germany September 5, 1845. When about three years of age, he came with his parents, to the United States, landing in New York. He received a common school education by the Redemptorist Fathers of the New York city. When about fourteen years of age he learned the trade of cigar-making. In 1863, when General Lee, with his army, entered Pennslyvania, he enlisted as a private in the Fifth New York National Guards. When they reached Harrisburg they were recalled on account of the riot which prevailed in New York city, doing duty there until the 22nd of July, 1863. Re-enlisted in 1864 as private in the Third New York Cavalry, and served with it till the close of the war; was mustered out at Richmond, Va., January 13, 1867. He was married to Miss Louisa Platz, of New York city, and remained there till 1873, when he started for the West and finally settled in Detroit, with his family. He was nominated for the legislature in 1879 by the republicans, but declined in order to afford a fair test of the workingmen's party strength. He was elected Representative by the republicans for the term of 1883-4, and again elected to the House of 1887-8 by 13,145 votes. Conrad (age 54) was listed as the head of a family with his wife Louisa (age 52) on the 1900 Census, on June 1, 1900 in Household No. 250, 270 Catherine Street, Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan, USA.1 Conrad (age 64) was listed as the head of a family with his wife Louisa (age 62) on the 1910 Census, on April 15, 1910 in Household No. 55, 270 Catherine Street, Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan, USA.1
