The Wolf family has so far been traced back to August Wolf. August was born in June 1858 in what is thought to be Hermsdorf, Germany. In 1885, August left Germany to come to America aboard the SS Rhaetia. He moved to Chicago where he married Caroline Cohn in Sept 1887 and had their first child Frank in Jan 1888. Three more girls followed: Ida, Anna, and Helen. In 1900, August committed suicide for unknown reasons. His wife, Caroline, remarried 10 years later to Ferdinand Gaertner.
