Hello, I started working on my family history in 1990.
So far I have traced relations on my wife’s line and my line to Australia, Canada and the USA .
Alison and I have two children, Angela and Colin, we stay in South Queensferry, West Lothian Scotland, eight miles to the west of Edinburgh.

Bowie, my wife’s maiden name.
They originated in Bo’ness (Borrowstounness) and were mainly miners. One branch left Bo’ness in the mid 1800’s for the USA, still coal miners, they sought out coal to fuel the railroad as it moved west.
My wife’s ancestor moved to Edinburgh and worked in the brewery.

My great grandfrather served in the gordon Highlanders in India and took part in the march lead by General Roberts from Kabul to Kandihar.
