Will of Jacob Rardin:
In the name of God Amen. I Jacob Rardin, of Campbell
County and State of Kentucky, considering the uncirtainty of this mortal life
and being of sound mind and memory, make, constitute, and publish this, my last
will and testement in manner and form following. Viz. First: I give and bequeath
unto my beloved wife, Elizabeth Rardin the whole use and benefit of my farm on
which I live in the County of Campbell, and State of Kentucky, commencing at
Carthage and running with the Washington Road to George L. Tanin's, thence down
the branch with the line of George L. Tanin's to John Anderson's line, thence
with Wm. Rardin's line to John Tarvin's line, late James Rardin's, thence with
said line to his corner, to me, to a fence lately built on my land by Thomas
& Wesley White, thence with said fence to the branch and across it and up to
Wm. Newman's land, on the road leading from Carthage to my house, up said road
to Eijah Herndons lot, thence around said Herdons lot, on the back line and the
back line of a lot sold by me to Welsow Kifer, no occupied by James G. Carter,
thence to the road adjoining John Kifers, the same supposed to contained
seventy-five acres, to the same more or less, her natural life. Also all my
personal property I bequeath to my wife during her life, if she lives longer
than I do. After my death and the death ofmy wife, I will and bequeath unto my
son Perry Rardin, the said tract of land above described, supposed to contained
seventy-five acres, to the same more or less, with all the improvements and
appurtenance thereon. I also bequeath that the remainder of my real estate, if I
do not sell the same before my death, together with my personal property after
the death of my wife and all claims coming to my estate after my death, after
paying all my just debts, to be divided equally among my children that I now
name (except my daughter Alice Miller now dead, to her hiers I give one dollar)
John Rardin, Nancy Young, formerly Nancy Rardin, Wm. Rardin, Eliza Kesler,
formerly Eliza Rardin, James Rardin, Margaret Todd, formerly Margaret Rardin,
Lydia Calvert, formerly Lydia Rardin, and Perry Rardin to have an equal
division. I do hereby nominate and appoint my son James Rardin my executor to
compromise pay and discharge the debts and claims against me and collect and
compromise all claims coming to me as he may think proper. I do hereby revoke
all former wills made by me in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal this 28th day of March A.D. 1854. Wittness present; James J. Carter ,
