5.John Vanderstay b.4JUN1823 Dusseldorf, Germany d.2JAN1902 Atchison, Kansas. On 15APR1853, John Vanderstay married Gertrude Koenen in Pfalzdorf, Prussia. Gertrude Koenen b.JUN1825 Germany d.10APR1907 Galesburg, Illinois. She is buried in Atchison, Kansas.

4.Elizabeth Vanderstay married Frank Watson on 1MAY1888.

3.Martha Rita Watson married Frederick George Menges on 13JUN1922.

2.Joyce Menges married LeRoy Schad. Joyce and LeRoy had six children, James, Laura, Frederick, Kenneth, Raymond and David.

The Vanderstay name was originally spelled as van der Staay. There are stories that the Vanderstays are related to the Queen of Holland but there is no available proof at this time.

John Vanderstaay was a Union sympathizer during the Civil War and served in a Missouri Militia.
