Introduction to the 1890 R C Reconstructed Census The 1890 U S Census schedules were destroyed or badly damaged by fire in Washington D C in 1921. In 1933 Congress authorized destroyal of the remaining damaged schedules. Unfortunately a 20 year break in records between 1880 and 1900 exists. Since no 1890 census records are available a good extant source of records to help fill in the gap is offered through the personal property tax list of the county. The Arkansas Genealogical Society with the help of the Arkansas History Commission has undertaken to reconstruct a state wide 1890 census by transcribing each county's personal property tax list. A volunteer from each county does the transcribing of their respective county. The records which you are about to view list only names of head of household and a few occasional comments. Although the 1890 Randolph County Reconstructed Census are not as informative as we would all prefer, it is all we have available and hope it can offer a source of help in your research.
