Stith Ragsdale was born in March 1846 probably in VA. His mother, Ciely, was born in 1803 in VA. He married Rhoda (who was born February 1847 in AR) about 1865 in AR. Rhoda died before 1920 in OK. He then married Elizabeth.
Sarah Ragsdale – The oldest of Stith and Rhoda's children. She was born July 15, 1868 in AR and died May 30, 1955 in CA. She had 7 children.
William H. Ragsdale – my grandmother’s father. He was born Feb. 1870 in Alma, Crawford County, AR and died December 22, 1921 in Muskogee, OK. He married Malinda Ann Hays on Oct. 20, 1889. Malinda died in about 1941 in OK. They had 8 children.
Mollie F. Ragsdale – born in 1872 in Alma, AR. She married Lewis Stokes on Dec 26, 1890 in AR. They had 11 children.
Ross Ragsdale was born Feb 1875 in Alma, AR He married Lucinda Long on Jan 23, 1896 in AR. He died July 15, 1968 in Muskogee, OK. They had 3 children.
Flora Ragsdale was born in April 1877 in Alma, AR. She was the twin of Florence. She died at an early age.
Maggie Ragsdale was born March 16, 1880 in Alma, AR and died about 1962.She married Allen Embry on Dec 31, 1900 in Alma, AR. They had 10 children.
Daniel Ragsdale was born Aug 9, 1881 in Alma, AR and died Dec 1972 in Kansas City, MO. He married Delsie Dixon on Sept 16, 1900 and he had 9 children – one or two were not by his wife.
Edna Ragsdale was born Jan 1893 in Alma, AR and died
in 1917 in Muskogee, OK. She married Jim Jackson but was later killed by
her husband. My grandmother (Celestine Ragsdale Reed) raised her
2 children for a while. He in turn was killed a few years later.
Adair Ragsdale was born Dec 25, 1893 in Alma, AR and
died Jan 1981 in Tulsa, OK. He had one son.
Stith Ragsdale did purchase 40 acres of land on June
1, 1882.He didn’t move to Muskogee,
OK until after 1910 because he didn’t appear on the OK federal census until
1920.My mother remembered him (she
was born in 1922) riding around town on a wagon with his daughter Mollie.
