"John was a CURRIER in N.Y. in 1708 and acted in a justice capacity on occasion then is identified as a TANNER after moving his family to New Barbadoes Neck, N.J. In Bergen Co. he then acquired a considerable amount of property with his friend Van Emburg. John's family has rcds in the Bergen Co. Hackensack Dutch Ref. Ch. with a Dutch lady [Betjen Gis], in all probability John's wife. John's son Jan Janse Van Geste [John the son of John] m Susanna Alyea, daugh of Jan Alyea, Apr. 17, 1715.
