Albert was the son of a successful bakery (14 bakeries) in central
London. He claims his older brother Arthur frequently took his school
money. Thus Albert had to hide during the day. He left home at age 16
years and joined the British Merchant Marine. Four years later he jumped
ship at Halifax Nova Scotia Canada and hid in a widow's basement until
the ship left port.
After this he moved west to the Bear Creek Distinct (south of prsent
day Gladstone) Manitoba. He he worked as a hired man until he could start
his own homestead. For a brief period he also homesteaded in the Bar
Colony near present day Lloydminster Saskatchewan (1904 to 1908). Albert
paid for his brother Arthur to come all the way to his farm . There he
beat him up for all the beatings he received as a child. He was put on
the train and sent back to London. Interesting they remained in contact
afterward.
Albert designed and built may farm implements. He could be a stubborn and
threatening man however. He is reputed to have destroyed one of his
designs because the the implement company would not pay him enough.
Died during the great flu epidemic
