John (b. 1876) and Elizabeth (nee Teare, b. 1791) Radcliffe had 11 children: Thomas (b. 1809), Mary (b.1810), John Lace (b.1813), William (b. 1814), Elizabeth (b.1816), Charles (b. 1819), Daniel (c. 14.9.1821), John Hampton (b. 1824), Frederick (b. 1826), Margery (b.1829) and Allen (b. 1831). They lived in Andreas on the Isle of Man and John worked as the Parish Clerk*.
John and Elizabeth's son, Daniel, married Jane Gill (of Lezayre) on 29th January 1848 at Andreas. Witnesses to the wedding were Thomas Teare, John Hampton Radcliffe (Daniel's brother) and John Radcliffe (Daniel's father, the parish clerk). Daniel and Jane had four children: Anna (b. ~1848), Allen (c. 21st October 1849, Ramsey), Frederick (c.18th September 1852, Ramsey) and Sophia (b.11/05/1867, Liverpool) . At the time of the census in 1851, Daniel was working as a Butcher and the family lived in Ramsey (Church Street).
At some point between 1851 and 1867, Daniel and Jane moved to Liverpool. Daniel became a Police Constable in the city and they lived at 53 Court Mann Street (~1867) and 4 Tamworth Street (~1871 - 1881) in the Toxteth Park area.
Daniel and Jane's eldest son, Allen worked as Boilermaker, Iron Ship Builder and Rivetter. He married Elizabeth Watson on 15th December1873 at St Michael's, Toxteth (parish of Walton on the Hill). Elizabeth's sister and brother in law, Sarah Ann and Joseph Pugh, witnessed the wedding and lived with Allen and Elizabeth at 23 Arthur Street (Toxteth Park; ~1881). Allen and Elizabeth later moved to102 Essex Street (~1889) and 39 Woodruff Street (~1891 - 1901).
Allen and Elizabeth had 5 children: Burtle Daniel (b. 1880), Edith Gertrude (b. 1882-83), Maude Elizabeth (b.1884-85), Allen (b. 1886-87) and Frank (b. 29/07/1890 at 39 Woodruff Street).
