The Mudge's
Henry Mudge was born in Liverpool around the turn of the century (1800-1801). The name of his parents of where he lived as a child is not known. In 1826, He married Elizabeth McDonald on 11th September at St. Paul's Liverpool. The witnesses at the wedding were William Mudge and Edward Coventry. Over the next 20 years, Henry and Elizabeth had 10 children, who were all born in Liverpool: George (c 19/8/1827), Agnes (c 30/10/1828), Henry (c 5/12/1830), Elizabeth (c 18/10/38), James (b. ~1840-41), Margaret (b. ~1841-42), Sarah Ann (b. 24/11/1843 at 21 Grafton Street) and Emma (b. ~1847-48).
Henry worked as a Shipwright/DockLabourer. The family lived at Mason Street (1827), Parliament Street (1828), Simpson Street (1830), Jordan Street (1835- 37), Bell Street (1838 - 41), Grafton Street (1842), Tamworth Street (1847) and back to Grafton Street (1851- 59). In 1841, Elizabeth's mother, Mary Mcdonald (b. ~ 1766, Ireland), lived with the Mudge's. The family's whereabouts at the time of the 1861 census is not yet known, but by 1863 they had moved to Northumberland Street (Toxteth Park), as this was Sarah Ann's address at the time of her marriage. She married a Baker, Thomas Murray (21), on 6th September 1863. Sarah's parents were witnesses at the wedding.
