These photos are of the small lake behind our home in Lake in the Hills, Illinois. The official name of the lake is Scott Lake, but since we were the first family to have a home on its shores and lived there from 1955 until my mother's death in 2002, I have taken the liberty of giving it a more fitting name.

The photos from 1957 (above) are from our (Odle) backyard, as are the later photos below. In 1957 the upper dam had not yet been built and there were no homes on the other side of the lake yet. There was no drop off from our back yard to the water, which is why the canoe could easily be beached on shore. Many times during those early years, in fact, a heavy rain would cause the lake to swell and flood the back yard. The Paulsons lived across the street from us and the McDowells lived up the hill.
Dulci and Quetzy Odle are the children of Michael Odle and the grandchildren of Irene and Everett Odle.
