Conley's and Hefley's Unite!
Finding a husband or wife is seldom an easy undertaking, so why re-invent the wheel (so to speak)? That's what the Conley and Hefley families apparently decided. Of Anna (MacAllister) and William Conley's eight children, four of them married into the same Hefley family. Only three of the seven children of Lucinda (Clark) and Andrew Theodore Hefley married someone who wasn't a Conley. Makes you kind of wonder, doesn't it?
That's not all, though. One of those pairings -- Lillie May (Hefley) and George Conley -- produced six children, and in keeping with family tradition, four of them married Parnells -- the offspring of Sarielda (Lancaster) and Hubbard Parnell.
Admittedly, Lillie's and George's son Raymond did marry Ruth Weatherford first, but it was probably inevitable that he ended up later marrying one of the Parnell girls, Leota. Just in the interest of fairness, I suppose, Raymond Conley's cousin, Blanche Hefley, married another Weatherford (Ralph).
You may have guessed the truth by now: I am a direct descendent of
Lillie
and George. Explains a lot, huh?
