Descendants of Adam and Eve

Then God said, “Let us make people in our image, to be like ourselves. They will be masters over all life—the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the livestock, wild animals, and small animals.”

So God created people in his own image; God patterned them after himself; male and female he created them. God blessed them and told them, “Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals.” And God said, “Look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given all the grasses and other green plants to the animals and birds for their food.”

And so it was. Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was excellent in every way. This all happened on the sixth day. (Gen 1:26-31)

And the LORD God formed a man’s body from the dust of the ground and breathed into it the breath of life. And the man became a living person. (Gen 2:7)

 1   Adam
      created: 100
      d: 1030    Age at death: 930 est.
Age at birth of first child: 130 est.
..  +Eve
      created: 100
d: Unknown    Age at death: ?
Age at birth of first child: 130 est.

The birth year of 100 is used to begin the lineage of Adam and Eve because it is the lowest number allowed by the genealogy program used to organize this information. It should be the year 0 or the year 1 A.C. (After Creation). All dates are calculated from the year 100 as if it were the first year.

When Adam was first created, it was "in the image of God." That meant that Adam was neither male nor female. In fact, the passage quoted above from Genesis, chapter 1, which says that God created "people" was translated from the Hebrew as a plural in order to avoid using a male pronoun. The actual Hebrew word was Adam. We now think of Adam as a male name, but notice that Adam was created "male and female," not just male.

The Hebrew word for ground, adamah, sounds like the word for and name of the first human, Adam.

Eve's name comes from the Hebrew word meaning "life-giver."

Adam and Eve began life in a paradise called Eden, and all was well until they sinned against God for the first time. As a result, everything was corrupted. The rest of Genesis gives the story of the spread of that corruption to every generation. Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden so they would not be able to live forever in their corrupted state. Eternal life with God is only possible for those who are uncorrupted by sin. That's where Jesus comes in. He was the only person to be born and live his life as a sinless, uncorrupted person. He was God's self-substitution for us. Through faith in him, God has promised that our corruption is erased in God's sight.

Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters, but we are not given their names. Adam was 130 yrs. of age when Seth was born.

........ 2   Cain (details and descendants)
              b: Aft. 100, Bef. 230
              d: Unknown

........ 2   Abel
              b: Aft. 100, Bef. 230
              d: Bef. 230

Abel kept flocks, perhaps as a shepherd. His name comes from a Hebrew word meaning "emptiness or vanity; figuratively something transitory and unsatisfactory." Although God was pleased with him, his life was indeed transitory, because he was killed by his brother Cain.

........ 2   Seth        Age at birth of first child: 105 est.    (details and descendants)

              d: 1142    Age at death: 912 est.
.........  + (Unknown)
              b: Unknown
d: Unknown    Age at death: ?
