Notes for JOHN OCHS:

       John and Elizabeth Ochs appeared in Puslinch on the 1861 census living with an Amelia and Georgie Putts(Bott). The 1861 gazetteer for the village of Morriston states that John Ochs was a locksmith.

     By the 1871 census, they were living next to Alex and Hanna and they have  10 year old Ella Ochs living with them. John, along with Jacob Fuhry (husband of Catherine Ochs) were witnesses to the deed between the Hamilton Diocese and Alex Ochs.

    John Ochs died in Puslinch on Aug. 13, 1874. The record states that he was 74 years old and born in Germany. Unfortunately, John's will only states that all property and worldly possessions go to his wife Elizabeth. The witnesses to the will were Bernard Brown and John Stein. On Sept. 25, 1877 Alex Ochs sold, for a pittance of 20 dollars, to Elizabeth Ochs, lot 35 as part of his survey in the village of Morriston. Jacob Fuhry was also a witness to this event.  Elizabeth died on Oct. 11, 1877. The record states that she was 67 years old and born in Austria.
