Cutting Origins Joseph Bowman and Catherine Fetter Descendants of Emma Francis Bowman and Henry Cutting Generation No. 1
Emma - click to enlarge EMMA FRANCIS10 BOWMAN was born September 25, 1872 in Puslinch, Ontario, Canada. She married HARRY CUTTING December 18, 1889 in Freelton, Ontario, Canada, son of HENRY CUTTING and PHOEBE PEAVOY. He was born February 13, 1866 in Erin Township, Ontario. Notes for EMMA FRANCIS BOWMAN: Francis Emma Bowman was the first child of Joseph and Catherine (Fetter) Bowman, born the 25th of September 1872. She livedin Hamilton Ontario with her husband Harry Cutting then removing to Highway97, east of Galt. After Harry's death, Emma married Hugh Johnson and they resided in Brantford on Spruce Street. In the later years of her life, Emma lived on River Road, the extension of Queen Street East in Hespeler, Ontario. Ollive Garside , Emma's niece, recalls that her aunt was a friendly person that most of the family was afraid of. She loved to wear jewelry, take pictures and was always in the company of dogs. She was a spiritualist, making the rest of the family somewhat uneasy in her presence. Audrey and Verna Jones, niece's to Emma, recalled a story about Emma to me. Richard Fisher Jones married Emma's sister, Violet Mabel Bowman, and while planning a move to Guelph, Emma had a premonition about railway tracks. "Beware of the tracks", she told them. It so happened that the house they lived in was beside a set of tracks. These tracks proved not to be the fateful ones. It was while Richard Jones was a delivery man, making a run to Mississauga and crossing some railway tracks in his delivery truck that he was hit by a train and killed. Emma is believe to be buried with her sister Viola Josephine, in the Woodlawn cemetery in Guelph. Notes for HARRY CUTTING: Harry Cutting was the son of Henry Cutting and Phoebe Jane Cutting. He was born in the Township of Erin Ontario about 1867. He married Fanny Emma Bowman, daughter of Joseph Bauman and Catherine Bowman nee Fetter. They were married in Freelton at the Methodist Church. Harry and Emma lived in Hamilton where Harry worked as a garbage collector facilitating his business with horse and wagon. They then moved to Highway #97 east of Galt. 2. LESLIE E.11 CUTTING was born August 27, 1894, and died January 02, 1990 in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. He married (1) EDIE WILLY. He married (2) CORA M. SHINGLER, daughter of WESLEY SHINGLER and LUCETTE NEE UNKNOWN. She was born April 1904, and died 1962 in Hespeler, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Notes for LESLIE E. CUTTING: According to his obituary, Les served with the Fort Garry Horse Cavalry in World War #1, and was a chartered member of Branch #272 ( Hespeler) of the Royal Canadian Legion who held a memorial service for him at the time of his passing. He died at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital and his last residence was 311 Clyde Rd. Cambridge. CUTTING- Leslie at the Cambridge Memorial hospital on Tues. Jan. 02, 1990. Les Cutting of 311 Clyde Rd, Cambridge in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Cora Shingler and Margaret Johnstone Zimmerman Cutting, dear father of Harold of Cambridge, Mrs. Gino {Emily} Goegan and Mrs. Doreen Richards both of Cambridge and Mrs. Freda Williams of Los Angeles, also survived by 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mr. Cutting was a veteran of the First World War having served overseas with the Fort Garry Horse Cavalry and was a chartered member of Branch #272 Royal Canadian Legion. Resting at the Nelson funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends today (Wednesday) from 7-9 pm. A private family service will be held in the funeral home on Thurs aft. Jan. 4th at 1:30 pm. Interment New Hope Cemetery. A memorial service by the Hespeler Branch # 272 R.C. 4. HAROLD12 CUTTING was born March 28, 1928. He married ALICE WILSON June 1945. She died April 24, 1995. Notes for HAROLD CUTTING: I talked to Harold a few times on the phone and he supplied me with some of the information on this side of the family. Children of HAROLD CUTTING and ALICE WILSON are:
