ELIZABETH8 was born March 10, 1821 in Pennsylvania U.S.A.2, and died February 16, 1891 in Hartford, Wisconsin2,2,3.  She married GIDEON OCHS Abt. 1835, son of IGNATIUS OCHS and CATHARINA BAUER.  He was born July 19, 1809 in Spessart, Germany4,5, and died April 01, 1890 in Hartford, Wisconsin.

 Notes for GIDEON OCHS:

Sponsor at Gideon's baptismal was Ignatius Ochs of Spessart

Gideon Ochs appeared in Waterloo county in 1834 on Christian Deitweiler's property which was lot # 127 of the German Company Tract. This property is a short distance north of the present Fisher Mills. He then appeared on the same lot that Joseph Bauman was occupying in Puslinch, Lot #33 Concession #8 in Puslinch in 1834. Lot# 127 is very close to Lot # 13 of Beasley's Lower Block.

In a letter signed by Gideon to "Sir George Arthur, Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada and Major General of Her Majesty's Forces" dated May12,1840, he petitioned to purchase the above mentioned " Clergy Reserve" Lot# 33 in Puslinch .He remained on this lot for some time, but his petition must have been refused, because the 1842 "Heads of Households" shows him on the property "for the Rev. Meldrum  "who takes over the property shortly thereafter.

Lena Josephina Oaks in 1981,it was noted by Lena that some of Gideon and Elizabeth's younger children never met the older ones. Various descendents of this line changed the spelling of Ochs to either Oaks or Oakes.
