Subject: Bernard Fulton White lived in Mammoth , WV - While surfing I noticed the White name and that being my birth name, I read on. My father Bernard Fulton White lived in Mammoth , WV, Kanawha Co. I have some papers that was given to me after my fathers death in 1954 about the White geneology. If there is imformation on them would be happy to share. I'm new at this searching but do have serveral things gathered about the Shamblen family also.

NOTE: I've had no luck so far with your first request (probably S. M. Lawson's home page, as it looks like it was his web page, concerning a document named "whitej.htm." The information that I have has been gotten from a tape my grandmother Lillian Cullingsworth made.. It is not of good quality, and this is all I can make out.
This White family has relations to some of these names Cullingsworth, Texter, Kellerman, Pitts, Wynn, etc.... If you can help in searching this tree, I would appreciate it. By the way I think they were from the Richmond, Virginia area, That is where my Mother Frances Carolyn Texter was born and Lillian Cullingsworth was William and Lottie's daughter.

Subject: White migration from York Co., Va. to Granville Co. N.C. - Hello, I got your names from a surname registry on the VA Genweb.
I am a descendant of William R. White (b. abt 1798 NC) and his wife Frances (?). There are many Whites in Granville Co., NC. I am currently trying to sort them out. I am not in NC, so I am hoping the internet can help me sort this family out. I saw a note that many of the Whites in Granville County were descended from Whites in Queen's Creek in York County, VA.
Does anyone have information that would lead to Whites that migrated to Granville, Co. NC from York Co., VA? William, Valentine, Henry and Philemon were family names used a lot.

I just joined this list. My first effort was to go and search the archives. I could not find a past mention of my family, so I hope there is someone out there for me...
I am researching the White family in Granville Co., NC. I have traced back so far to the following:
William Philomen "Philo" White married Nancy M. Mitchell in Sep/Oct 1858 in Granville, Co., NC. I have found Philo in the 1850 census living with William R. White (b. abt 1798) and Francis (?) who are probably his parents. Nancy Mitchell is the daughter of Booker A. Mitchell and Elizabeth Hester.
I am looking for help on William R. White and his wife Francis. Who were their parents. Where were they married. Did they have other children? In the 1850 census, Philo is the only child at home.
I have some will abstracts on the White family from the late 1700's, but I can not figure out yet where William R. White ties into those older families. The common first names for the boys are William, Philomen, Henry, and Jonathan. I thought Philomen was such an unusual name that they would be easy to trace, but not only did the Whites use the name several times, but other Granville County families also used the name. Sometimes the name has been shortened to Phillip. William has been used extensively, so that the relationships are difficult to define.
Any help out there? I live in SC and the local library just does not have very much information about individual counties in NC or specific family genealogies even though we are in the state right next door.
Subject: WHITE - Ohio - Pickaway Co. - Madison WHITE m Elizabeth ABBOTT. Had at least one daughter - "Berta" possibly Roberta but Madison County, OH, history refers to her as Wilberta. Wilberta WHITE, according to the Madison County, OH, history, was born in West Virginia. No county or town mentioned.
