Russell Woodward Legg was born about 1827 in Scott County, Virginia.   He married Louisa C. Roach on September 5, 1851 in Hancock County, Tennessee.   Russell's parents were John Legg and Jane Carter.   Russell was a 2d Lt. in the confederate army.   He was captured in a battle in Virginia and marched to Fort Pulaski, Georgia.   He died there as a union prisoner on February 7, 1865.   These facts are verifiable in his military record.

Louisa C. Roach

Louisa C. Roach was born July 22, 1831 in Scott County, Virginia.   She married Russell on September 5, 1851 in Hancock County, Tennessee.   She died on November 30, 1915 in Wilcat Valley and is buried there in Peterson Cemetery in Scott County, Virginia.
