Eva Sylva Gray Surratt was born in Pulaski
County, March 29, 1893. She was a daughter of
the late Isham and Eva Susan Marshall Surratt, the
youngest of their children. She spent her child-
hood, teenage and young adult years in Sylvatus;
her parents having moved here when she was very
young.
     She attended Roanoke Business College and
worked as secretary for "Dalton's Wholesale" in
Sylvatus. In the early 1920's, she moved to Boston,
Mass., where she worked as a secretary until her
retirement and move to Pulaski.
     Sylva Surratt died August 21,1986 in Pulaski
Community Hospital, at the age of 93.
