In [REF:#90, Pg165] writes:
The following was related to Utauka Cobb MULLINS, by her Grandmother Mrs. L.H. COBBS [Louverne E. SARRETT, b. 1862 Portsmith, OH.] of Ashford, Boone Co., WV.
"Thompson SURRETT's father [Not Named!] came from France, with Lafayette and fought through the American Revolution against the English. He then went back to France and lived there until the French Revolution during which time French noblemen were being killed. He bore the title 'Duke of Mont Surrett'! He took his two year old son and stowed away on an American ship and came to America for the second time and settled in Virginia."
Possible Record Problem!
This "Story" has never been proven! although two other families claim similer storys.
Fact #1. Lafayett, fought in the American Revolution, in the Southern Campaign, 1780-1782.
Their is a 'Mont SARRETT' [Note spelling] but this is a Black African island in the West Indies, that was an "English" colony, not "French" no other "Mont SURRETT" can be "connected" to the French, by this writer..prs
