The Anthony Sarratt Cemetery is located on the property where his home place
was located during his life. Nobel Sarratt’s home was located next door
(building no longer here). It is on Mike's Creek Rd
(on the SC side -- just off Ellis Ferry Rd -- last left before you reach end).
This side of Ellis Ferry Rd ends at the NC State line. The old Ferry House is about
300 yards down this Road on foot. <---

The Anthony Sarratt Cemetery is in a pasture behind Eugene Martin's home.
He was most cordial and helpful. Of course, Letitia "Lettie" Ellis
(daughter of James Ellis of Ferry Cemetery) is buried here with her husband
Anthony Sarratt and their son Noble Sarratt (book fame). Surprise Noble’s wife
is not here. One civil war vet -- Edwin Clatton Sarratt -- is buried here.
This is Anthony’s grand son through his son Gilbert Clatton Sarratt.
Edwin was killed in the civil war.

1998 Driving Directions:
From Shelby, NC take NC 226 south.
It will merge with NC 180 a couple miles out of Shelby.
Just stay on NC 180 even after NC 226 has turned off to the left and go
about a mile and NC 198 will go off to the left and head toward Blacksburg, SC.
The cemetery is one to two miles down NC 198 and off to the right on the road beside
New Hope Baptist Cemetery. I did this cemetery September 9, 1998.
