SURRITT, Andrew Obituaries for Mar 08, 2000 Ohio's Greatest Home Newspaper ARCHER Harry L. Archer, age 82, passed away March 7, 2000 at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Retired after 42 years from Columbus Show Case and was the Pastor of the Old Time Religion Hall for over 23 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; daughters, Betty (William) Whiteside, Janet (Jack) Holsinger, June Bailey, Patti (Jack) Gibson, Anita (Andrew) Surritt, Tonya (Jeffrey) Seitz; son, James (Kathy) Archer; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; brother, Avon (Leona) Archer; sister, Faye Idemiller; nieces, nephews and other family. Visitation will be held at the Harmony Freewill Baptist Church, 2888 Ontario St., Thursday 2-9 p.m., where service will be held Friday 1 p.m. Interment Franklin Hills Memory Gardens. Mrs. Sylvia (Waggoner) SURRETT Date: 3/13/01 3:08:18 PM Pacific Standard Time Source: MDWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MDWASHIN-L] Waggoner I saw quite a bit of correspondence om Waggoner's genealogy so thought you might like to see a recent obituary of one from the Herald Mail newspaper of Hagerstown. Paul C. Waggoner, 72, of 17320 Diane Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington. Born July 21, 1928, in Belington, WVa., he was the son of the late Festus Clee and Anna Louise Rosier Waggoner. His wife, Norma Fauley Waggoner, died in 1997. He was a graduate of Grafton High School, Grafton, W.Va. He was a field agent with the F.B.I. in Washington, then was vice president of Tn-State Printing, Inc. He was co-owner of Printer's Unlimited. He was later an account executive with Greenlawn Cemetery. He was a charter member of Lions Club of Halfway for 44 years, where he served as president and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He served as secretary/treasurer for District 22-W Lions; served as president of CASA; chairman of Washington County Sanitary Commission; Washington County Board of Tourism and was active in the PTA and PTSA. He is survived by a daughter, Paula Ann Kendle of Hagerstown; five sisters, Mrs. Mary (Waggoner) Thorpe of Vienna, Va., Mrs. Sylvia (Waggoner) Surrett of Westerville, Ohio, Mrs. Sandy (Waggoner) Stoica of Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Eleanor (Waggoner) Mossburg of Dunwoody, Ga., and Mrs. Margie (Waggoner) Lonas of Edinburg, Va.; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen (Waggoner) Callender. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Janice Welch Dorsey will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club of Halfway, 11219 Greenberry Road, Hagerstown, MI 21740. ..prs |
