He died April 1907 in Lake County Minnesota. He married Mary Patterson 25 March 1846 in DeDalb County Illinois. Any information on his ancestry would be greatly appreciated. Buried: Cemetery Location Unknown (to me) At a17y he married on 25 Mar 1846 at DeDalb Co., IL. to 23 year old Miss Mary PATTERSON; (d/o M/M PATTERSON Parents) b. c1823, Unknown Co., NY. d. Unknown They had Children born to this Union: 1.1st Son: George, b. c1848 Lee Co., IL. 2.1st Dau: Delia, n. c1849 Lee Co., IL. He was age 1 year living with Parents in the 1830 Census for Grayson Co., VA. He was age 11 years living with Parents in the 1840 Census for Kanawha Co., WV. He was age 27 years living with Own family in the 1850 Census for Lee Co., IL. The 1850 census was the last record we found of this family. The Surratt line is not my ancestry; I am helping a friend of mine his Surratt line. I find as you did John Surratt in 1850 in Lee County Illinois. I can not find him in 1860. He is found 1870 Leon Township, Godhue County, Minnesota p. 255, 1880 Springfield Township, Cottonwood County Minnesota p. 59C and even though he did not die until 1907 I can not find him on the 1900 census. According to some information found in the effects of Mabel Surratt, granddaughter of John, John's wife was Mary Ann Patterson daughter of George Graham Patterson and Fanny Robinson of Portage, New York. According to some online cemetery records, John and Mary Ann Patterson Surratt are buried in Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota. I do not know the name of the cemetery. There is a large amount of information at the LDS site on these people. The information pasted below is what I have been able to verify. It look's like this branch is "Extinct" of the surname SURRATT, none of the 7 sons of George G. At this point I have found nothing to support this. Could you share with me some of the information that was used to come to this conclusion? Ruth Hinkle Kicklighter, kickli@sbcglobal.net Ruth, We have no "Proof", but it's a matter of deduction. We have researched all the various SARRATT/SARRETT/SURRATT's in the early Virginias. The only family that has a "Un-identified" Male in the 1830 & 1840 Census for Virginia is Wiley & Hannah A. (Coletrane) Sarrett family. Has anyone ordered/received John SURRATT (Apr 27, 1907) death certificate? I know the MN. State Dept. of Health only has records from Jan. 1908 so the Clerk of the District Court, of Lake Co. should have his certificate. I miss read the original information that I had and I have since determined that John Surratt died in Heron Lake, Jackson County Minnesota not as previously stated. I finally found John in 1860. It is rather interesting that none of the kids are listed with John and Mary. They are listed with another family about two pages over in the census. I could download the census images and attach them to an email to you if you would like, or I can just transcribe the information and send it to you. The kids are listed with William Greaves page 629 Dwelling 610 family family 54. I also spent some time reading what you had posted to the Surratt website. I noted that you state a possible problem with the Frank Surratt who died 5 May 1961 in Ramsey County Minnesota. My rational for his being a son of George and Milly Surratt is that the online Minnesota death index states his mother's name was Jackson. I received in today's mail some information from my friend whose family this is. I haven't had time to study it but the first sentence caught my attention. It states "John A Surratt is said to have left Virginia at an early age and never spoke about or would mention anything about his family or past."
