After the Civil War, Demosthene Madison SURRATT, age 26,
can be found in the 1870 Census, living with Mother and
Step-father C.B. ATKINS in Chattooga Co., GA.

The next record I found is the 1900 Census for Floyd Co., GA
     (1900 Census, T-693, Reel 0196, E.D. 121, F.G 073]
     H/H Demosthene M. SURRATT, age 56, b. 1844 SC
     Dau: Pinna (SURRATT) RAMSEY, age 26, b. 1874 GA.
     GSon: William RAMSEY,        age  9, b. 1891 GA.
     GDau: Minnie RAMSEY,         age  7, b. 1893 GA.

Note: Their also was a Demosthene SURRATT, age 43 b. c1857
      b. SC "boarding" with James F. GILBREATH
      T-693, Reel 0196, E.D. 125, F.G. 003

In the 1910 Census, Demosthene M. SURRATT, age 66y b. 1844
was living in the family Unit of his son Robert Sr. SURRATT
