Dr. Chester Kennedy's book 1994 In [REF: #Castleberry, Pg52] Dr. Chester Kennedy's Book he writes:Upon his resumption of civilian life, William K. WILLIAMS now became the head of household with three sets of children --- SURRATT, NEWBERRY, and WILLIAMS. And, actually, only Almon SURRATT and Samuel SURRATT were the sons of Catherine (Castleberry) SURRATT, NEWBERRY, WILLIAMS, the others' having had a different mother. And, because of John C. NEWBERRY's service in the Army of the United States and the subsequent pension obtained by Catherine (Castleberry), there are interesting records among the "Loose Probate Packets" of Faulkner County, Probate Court, Case File #270. there are pages and pages of records, but only those with Genealogical import are included below.

In [REF: #Castleberry, Pg55] Dr. Chester Kennedy's Book he writes:
      1. It's interesting to notice that William K. WILLIAMS attested in one place with an "X" In a second place he signed his own name. In studying official documents going back through the years, this seems often to be the case. Apparently, the official accomplishing the document often thought it more convenient to go ahead and sign the person's name for him and to have the person "X" in the right spot. Or perhaps it was just a matter of courtesy.
      2. By reading between the lines, it can almost be anticipated that a legal hassle will ensue over the pension funds of Sanford Calvin NEWBERRY. Evidently, William K. WILLIAMS used the funds himself, perhaps in the operation of the household. When William K. WILLIAMS died on 22 Feb. 1884, Sanford C. NEWBERRY wanted his money, with a resulting hassle.
      3. There are many more pages of material in this packet but with little or no further information of import. Where there any further doubt as to Catherine CASTLEBERRY's family these Probate records offer irrefutable proof of the relationships of the CASTLEBERRY, SURRATT, NEWBERRY, and WILLIAMS'S families.
