The following is the list of the 50 States with some important Census
information, such as creation of Territory, Statehood, first
available Census, and a list of what Census are missing.

a strip of land which Texas had

(A small area in S.W. corner and a
larger area now in AZ. were added
by Gadsden Purchase of 1852.

North Dakota 1861 1889 1860 ND. was originally part of
the LA. Purchase, 1803. Later
when Minn. Terr. formed in 1849
It included all of the area of
ND. as far W. as the MO. River
but was left in Un-Organized
Terr. in 1859 when Minn. was
cut to its present-day boundaries.
As the Dakota Terr. was organized
in 1861 it included both North &
South Dakota and most of Wyo.
and Mont. In 1864 Wyo. and Mont.
separated to form Mont. Terr.
A movement to divide the Dakotas
began in early 1870's but was not
legislated until 1889 when both
became states. The 1860 Census is
of the Dakota Terr.

Ohio 1799 1803 1820 OH. was originally part of
the NW. Terr. in 1787 and
was the 1st state carved out
of the Territory. OH. began
to function as a state in 1802.

Oklahoma 1890 1907 1900 OK. became part of the AR.
Terr. in 1819, but the relevant
history dates from 1866 when the
Indian tribes ceded the W. part
of their domain to the U.S. OK.
land was not opened to white
settlement until 1889. The Indian
Terr. (abt the E. 1/3 of present-
day OK. and was not officially
organized but remained under the
jurisdiction of AK. until state-
hood in 1907.
