I, Richard C. Butt do make and publish this my lst will and testament hereby revoking & annulling any & all wills by me heretofore at any time made.
It is my will and I direct that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid.
Prior to my marriage to my present wife, Rebecca Butt, I entered into a marriage contract with her, which I will & direct shall be strictly observed & carried out.  By its terms she is to have all of my household and kitchen furniture and $250.00 in money.  I have paid her $25.00 of the money & owe her the balance, which I direct shall be paid.
I have given to my several children to wit; Margaret J. Perdue, wife of F. M. Perdue; Nancy C. Moye wife of H. W. Moye, Alexander C. Butt now dec'd, John S. Butt, Dr. Albert L. Butt and Mary E. Buntin wife of William Buntin, Twenty four hundred dollars each.  This was done to make them equal, and I charge each of them, including my deceased sons estate, with said amount.  But since I advanced them each said sum, I have advanced them severally sums of money, as follows viz, To Margaret J. Perdue, two hundred and two & 75/100 dollars ($202.75): to Nancy C. Moye, Three hundred & eighteen & 30/100 dollars ($318.30); to Alexander C. Butt, fifty five & 65/100 dollars ($55.65) to John S. Butt, Seven hundred & forty & 60/100 dollars ($740.60); to Albert L. Butt Six Hundred & sixty dollars ($660.00) and to Mary E. Buntin, one hundred & eighty dollars ($180.00)
I want to make my children equal in the distribution of my estate, and I charge each of them & the estate of my deceased son with these sums last mentioned and require and direct that each of them & the estate of my deceased son account to my estate for the said sums advanced to them severally as aforesaid.
It is my will and I so direct that all of my real estate be sold and that the proceeds thereof be equally divided between my children aforesaid & the estate of my said deceased son; but before said distribution among them from each must be deducted the sum advanced to each as aforesaid since the

advancement to them severally of the $2400.00 From the $660.00 advanced A. L. Butt, as aforesaid there shall be deducted $12.00 leaving his advancement $648.00.
I nominate & appoint Dr. A. L. Butt Executor to this my last will and testament.
Witness my hand this March 24th 1898.
