Sarver-Butler House

Henry Sarver, Jr. was b 22 December 1796 in NC and moved to Sumner County, Tn. with his parents at the age of 9.  He was married to Mary Oldham Rice on 22 April 1825.  She was b 8 March 1796.  Henry and Mary built this Federal style brick home in the 1820s.  They had a daughter named Mary Ann Sarver on 22 March 1830.  Henry died on 19 September 1872, and Mary died 3 August 1860.  Both are buried at the old Fountain Head Cemetery.  Daughter Mary Ann Sarver married Oliver Porter Butler on 8 November 1848.  They had sons John Henry and William Ferdinand Butler.  Oliver Butler married 2nd wife Susan M. Brown Parker in Sumner County on 15 January 1879.
