James T. Hullett, son of William O. Hullett and Mary Jane Hale, was born in Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN. on October 16, 1861. His wife, Laura Ella White, daughter of John White and Mary Catherine Massey was born in Sumner Co., TN. on July 18, 1861. Laura is often listed on records as Laura L. Hullett, but family members James D. Johnson and Winnie Johnson Lane remember her as Ella. Her name might have possibly been Laura Louella/Louellen. Her death certificate lists her as Laura, while James' death certificate lists her as Ellen. Both are buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Simpson Co., KY. The obituaries of James (obituary of James Hullett) and Laura (obituary of Ella Hullett) tells us that the children shown above are the children of James and his first wife. She was Janie Taylor, daughter of William K. Taylor and Vina Elizabeth Draper. Researcher Carlynn Taylor Brimage. Family information indicates that Vina Elizabeth was possibly a White before she married an unknown Draper. She is listed in the 1870 census for Simpson County as Vina Elizabeth Draper with one year old Richard. Children of James T. Hullett and Janie Taylor: Mahala C. - born November, 1881, Mattie M. - born January, 1883, William T. - born Dec, 1885, and Freddy - born March, 1890. This picture was inscribed simply as "The Hulletts" and was found among the possessions of Merica D. Short Johnson, whose mother was Jenetty White. Ella and Merica were first cousins and kept in close contact until Laura's death in 1947.
