Bessie Harry was born 19 July 1878 in Michigan. She was the daughter of Alivra Ophelia Baker and Jesse Benford Harry. She lived in Fountain Head, Tennessee from 1887 - 1895 with her grandmother, Eleanor Hardenbrook Baker Leighton, and her great Uncle Theophilus Hardenbrook. Eleanor died abt. 1895. Theophilus was a Civil War Veteran and made his application for benefits first on 25 March 1887 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On August 17th 1895 William Butler (son in law of W. G. Pond) notarized Theo's Appeal for reconsideration in Fountainhead. That Appeal for reconsideration was also signed by B.J. Harry (Bessie) and an E.S. Adams. In 1895, Theo went Indiana to the Veterans Hospital. He died in the Veterans home on 8 October 1895 and is buried there.
