Westmoreland World, 6 January 1983  

Johnnie W. Spears, age 88, Route 4, Westmoreland, died Thursday, December 23 at the Sumner County Memorial Hospital. Survivors include four sons, Mayner Spears, Bethpage; Johnnie Spears and Gerald Spears, both of Nashville and Cordell Spears of Hendersonville; three daughters, Mrs. Christine Martin, Gallatin; Mrs. Ruby Durham and Mrs. Jean Dickens, both of Nashville; one brother, Tandy Spears, Bethpage; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Carter of Nashville; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 25, at 1:00 pm at the Alexander Funeral Home. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery.  

Westmoreland World, 20 January 1983

Mrs. Nellie K. Thompson, Route 3, Westmoreland died Thursday, January 13, at the Macon County General Hospital. She was 78. The Macon County native was born June 8, 1904 and was the widow of James W. Thompson. She is survived by two sons Wesley Thompson of Westmoreland and Weston Thompson of Kocomo, Indiana; three daughters, Mrs. Nola Slayton, Gallatin; Mrs. Myrtle Farley and Mrs. Fay Love, both of Westmoreland. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Frankie Duffer, Trafaglar, Indiana; Mrs. Lillie Carver, Westmoreland and Miss Wenell Rollin; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15 at 11:00 am at Eulia General Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lillie Rhoades

Mrs. Lillie Rhoades, age 96, Route 1, Gallatin, died Sunday, January 16, at the Brandywood Nursing Home. Mrs. Rhoades was a member of the Westmoreland Methodist Church and the Westmoreland Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Rhoades, Westmoreland. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 18, at the Alexander Funeral Rome with burial following in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Westmoreland World, 27 January 1983

Christine Bowers, age 59, died Monday, January 10 at Herman Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana following a lengthy illness. Survivors include her husband, Lester; her mother Era Troutt , Indianapolis; two daughters, Diane Mead, Indianapolis and Nancy Jordon , Illinois. Also surviving are one son, Dewayne, Beech Grove, Indiana; one sister, Elizabeth Lee, Clarksville, Tennessee; one brother, Milton Keen, Westmoreland; two half-brothers, Lee Keen, Indianapolis, Woodrow Keen, Kingman, Arizona and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by the Herman Funeral Home, Indianapolis, Thursday, January 13 at 11:30.

Westmoreland World, 17 February 1983

Garland Driver, 72, died Thursday, February 10 at the Sumner County Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Route 1, Westmoreland. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, February 11 at the Alexander Funeral Home with burial in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.

S. Earl Brown, age 83, died Monday, February 6, at the Brandywood Nursing Home in Gallatin. Survivors include his wife, Emmie Law Brown of Westmoreland; three sons, Gene W. Brown, Joe M. Brown and David A. Brown, all of Gallatin; two daughters, Mrs. Marian D. Kirby of Westmoreland and Mrs. Freda B. Crowe of Gallatin; three brothers, Seaborn W. Brown of Buchannon, Tennessee; J. Harris Brown of Westmoreland and Robert Collins Brown of Gallatin; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Fontaign of Athens, Ohio; Mrs. Ruth Mouchette and Mrs. Sue Martin, both of Birmingham, Alabama; and 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 9, at 1:00pm at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Funeral under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.

Westmoreland World, 24 February 1983

Clyde Thomas Henson a resident of Westmoreland was dead on arrival at Sumner County Memorial Hospital. He was 77. He is survived by one brother, Mr. Earl Henson of Bethpage, Tn. Funeral services for Mr. Henson were held at 11 a.m. Sunday, February 20 at Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Bradley Cemetery.

Westmoreland World, 3 March 1983

Delbert C. Keen, age 39, a resident of Route 4, Westmoreland died Wednesday, February 23, at University Hospital in Louisville. Keen's death resulted from injuries sustained earlier this year in a one-car traffic accident on U.S. 231-31-E in Allen County. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Marie Hesson Keen, Westmoreland; two sons, Christopher Scott Keen of Lebanon and Clint Mitchell Keen of Westmoreland; two daughters, Vanessa Leann Keen and Mandy Chantae Keen, both of Westmoreland; five brothers, Cordell, James, Edward, William and Arlie Keen, all of Adolphus; and two sisters, Mrs. Margie Long and Mrs. Hazel Parker, both of Adolphus. Funeral services where held at the Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland on Friday, February 25. Burial followed in Oak Forest Cemetery.

Westmoreland World, 3 March 1983

Clester Troutt, age 64, of Route 3, died Tuesday, February 22 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was a resident at Route 3, Bethpage. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Mrs. Annette Walk , Bethpage, and Mrs. Phyllis Hammock, Westmoreland; and two sons, Dorris Troutt and Larry Troutt, both of Westmoreland; one brother, Robert Lee Troutt also survives; Thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 24, at the Westmoreland Church of God. Burial followed in the Bethpage Cemetery. The Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

Westmoreland World, 17 March 1983

Sidney Raines a resident of Route 2, Adolphus died Thursday, March 10 at Fairview Healthcare Center in Bowling Green. He was 75. Raines, a farmer, is survived by his wife, Irene, also of Route 2, Adolphus; two daughters, Barbara Caldwell, Adolphus and Mary Helen Summer, Bethpage, Tennessee. Also surviving are one son, Eldon Raines, Isabelle, Oklahoma and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at Roberts Tabernacle with burial in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of T. W. Crow and Son Funeral Home.
