Westmoreland World, 7 January 1982 - Area Deaths

Arcie Miller Keen, age 69, died Saturday, January 2, 1982 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was a resident of Route 3, Westmoreland, Tennessee. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 5, 2 pm in the T. W. Crow and Son Funeral Chapel, with Burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens. Survivors are his wife, Geneva Pauline Murray Keen , Westmoreland; one daughter, Jeanette Caldwell, Westmoreland; three sons, Jaskel Keen, Scottsville, Anthony Keen , Franklin, Kentucky; and Randy Keen, Westmoreland; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Marcrum, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Viola Duffer, Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Herman G. Lauderdale, 63, resident of Lafayette, Indiana, died Wednesday, December 23, at Lafayette, Indiana. Funeral services were held Monday, December 28, 1 pm at the Alexander Funeral Chapel in Westmoreland, with burial in the Green Grove Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Lauderdale, Lafayette, Indiana; one son, Larry Lauderdale, Washington State; four daughters, Mrs. Judy Sadler, Mrs. Claudia Timmons, Miss Donna Lauderdale, all of Lafayette, Indian; and Mrs. Barbara Hays, Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Lloyd Lauderdale, Westmoreland; and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Leona Creasy, Gallatin, former resident of Westmoreland, died Thursday, December 17, at Sumner Memorial Hospital. She was 78. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 19, 11 am, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Iva Harper of Gallatin; six grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Westmoreland World, 4 February 1982

Arthur E. Taylor, age 87, a resident of Route 3, Westmoreland, died Sunday, January 31, at the Franklin-Simpson Hospital in Franklin. He was a native of Allen County and a member of Providence Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Vetres Law, Mrs. Everett Calvert, both of Westmoreland and Mrs. Viola C. Douglas, Gallatin; one son, Willie Hoy Taylor, Westmoreland, one brother, Artie Taylor of Westmoreland. Other survivors include six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 2, at 11 am, at Mt. Olive Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Hayes A. Stinson, age 67, died Tuesday February 9, at the Sumner County Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Route 1, Westmoreland. Survivors include one son, Sherman Stinson, Westmoreland, one daughter, Peggy Collins, Martinsville, Indiana; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, February 12, at the Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland with burial following in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Irene Livingston, age 69, died Monday, February 8, at the Parkview Hospital in Nashville. She was a resident of Route 3, Westmoreland. She was a member of the Akersville Church, charter member of the Lafayette Chapter No. 379 O.E.S. and a member of the Westmoreland Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gerald McCormick, Hendersonville, Ms. Sue Woodward, Livingston; her mother, Margaret E. Pedigo, Franklin, Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Lura Quigley, Cave City, Kentucky, and Mrs. Olane Owen, Franklin, Kentucky. Other survivors include three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 11, at the Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland with burial following in the Long Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Willie E. Dotson, age 87, died Friday, February 12, at the Sumner County Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Westmoreland. Survivors include one daughter-in-law Thelma Dotson, Westmoreland and one sister, Mrs. Marvin Rutledge, Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral services were held Monday, February 15, at the Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland with burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Jeffrey Dean Meadors - Graveside services were held Thursday, January 28, for Jeffrey Dean Meadors at Bradley Cemetery. He was the infant son of Roger and Jackie Meadors. Jeffrey Dean was born and died January 27, 1982. Rev. Phil Rogers officiated the service. Paternal grandparents are Mrs. Ethel Whitefield of Westmoreland and the late Wardean Meadors. Maternal grandparents are Mrs. Floyd Brewster of Franklin, Ky., and the late Clyde Brizendine.

Westmoreland World, 11 March 1982

Mrs. Adeline (Addie) Morningstar, age 96, died Saturday, March 6, at the Sumner County Memorial Hospital. She resided at Route 3, Westmoreland, with her great nephew Don Wilkerson and his family. She was a former department superintendent for Chrysler and was a member of Twin Hills Baptist Church. She is survived by one niece, several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, at 1 pm, at the Twin Hills Baptist Church with burial following in the New Hope Cemetery. The Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

H. C. Swindle a resident of Route 4, Westmoreland, died Friday, March 12, at the Sumner County Memorial Hospital. He was 56. He is survived by his wife, Anna Lois Swindle; three sons, Bobby Joe Swindle, Terry Lee Swindle, and Gary Wayne Swindle, all of Westmoreland; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Harrison, Westmoreland; three brothers, W. T. Swindle of Scottsville, Ky.; Bill Swindle of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Larry Swindle, Mt. Juliet, Tn.; four sisters, Minnie Wakefield, Lafayette; Allie Brady, Bowling Green, Ky.; Clair Sadler, Nashville; and Roselean Cook, Franklin, Ky.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 14, at 2 pm, at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Westmoreland World, 25 March 1982

Mrs. Jennie S. Kirby, age 77, Route 4, Westmoreland, died Sunday, March 21, at the Sumner County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Twin Hills Baptist Church. She is survived by one step-son, H. G. Kirby, Jr., Westmoreland; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth McIntyre, Evansville, Indiana, Mrs. Ann Bentle and Mrs. Effie Stinson, both of Westmoreland; two brothers, Homer E. Stinson and Haden Stinson, both of Westmoreland. Funeral services were held at the Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland on Tuesday, March 23, at 2 pm. Burial followed in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Dewey Harper, age 83, Route 3, Westmoreland, died Wednesday, March 17, at the Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green. Harper was a farmer and member of Union Chapel General Baptist Church. He is survived by one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Marie Jent, Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Reedie England and Mrs. Ora Calvert, both of Westmoreland; two brothers, A. J. Harper, Indianapolis, and Olesie Harper, Kentucky; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, March 19 at 11 am at the Alexander Funeral Home in Westmoreland with burial following in the Rippy Cemetery.
