Mr. Scroggin Wright, age 75 years, and one of Portland's beloved citizens died at an early hour Tuesday morning after a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday morning by Rev. N. W. Seay, Pastor of the Methodist Church, followed by interrment at Portland Cemetery. Mr. Wright was a Confederate Soldier, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a very prominent man. He was in business here several times during his life and was a consistent member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. R. W. Enders of Portland and Mrs. H. M. Jarvis of Savannah, Tenn., one son Robt. D. Wright. We extend heart felt sympathy to the family.
