Connie Lorraine BROWN, 43, of Portland, died on Tues., September 26, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center/Portland.  She was born March 11, 1960 in Robertson Co. to the late Frances Jewell (Dorris) and James Odell Mooneyhan.  Survived by two sons, one sister, two brothers, one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were held on Fri, Sept. 19, 2003 at Wilkinson and Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Jake Link Cemetery.

Joan Barnes WALLACE, 57, of Franklin, Ky., died on Tues., Sept. 16, 2003 at her residence.  A native of Stewart Co., she was the daughter of the late Emma (Watkins) and Walter Barnes.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Samuel Wallace.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Franklin Pentecostal Church.  She is survived by one daughter, four sons, five sisters, five brothers, and twelve grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Thurs., Sept. 18, 2003 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, KY.  Burial was at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Leola BECK, 87, of Portland died on Sun., Sept. 21, 2003 at Highland Manor.  She was born on Feb. 5, 1916 to the late Ruby R. (Warren) and William P. Young.  She is survived by two sisters.  Funeral services were held on Tues., Sept. 23, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Robert Virgil SCRUGGS, 85, of Sellersburg, Ind. died on Sun., Sept. 21, 2003 at the Sellersburg Health and Rehab Center in Sellersburg, IN.  He was a native of Hartsville and a retired farmer.  He is survived by four children, four sisters, and one brother.  Funeral services were held on Tues., Sept. 23, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Curtiss Ray BARBER, 85, of Portland died on Fri., Sept. 19, 2003 at his residence.  A Sumner Co., native, he was born on May 10, 1918 to the late Hattie Theresa (Allison) and Charlie Nye Barber.  He served in the U. S. Air Force, was a retired salesperson in the auto parts industry and was also a retired farmer.  He is survived by his wife, one daughter, two sons, one brother, and eight grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sun., Sept. 21, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Emma Lou PIRTLE, 87, of Portland died on Mon., Sept. 22, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center/Portland.  She was born in Robertson Co. on Sept. 19, 1916 to the late Mary (Haynes) and Alex Majors.  She is survived by one daughter, one son, two sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. on Wed., Sept. 24, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Rev. John Daniel (Dan) BROWN, 54, of Portland died on Sun., Sept. 21, 2003 at his residence.  A Simpson Co., KY. native, he was born on April 3, 1949 to the late Hattie Mae (Hobdy) and Fay Brown.  He was a mechanic, as well as a minister.  He is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons, three sisters, two brothers, and four grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wed., Sept. 17, 2003 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens.

W. P. "Pat" STOVALL, 89, of Portland, died on Wed., Sept. 17, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center/Portland.  A Sumner Co. native he was born on Sept. 12, 1914 to the late Frances Elizabeth (Patterson) and William Frank Stovall.  He was retired from Consumer Rexall Drug Store as the owner/operator.  He was also a retired farmer.  He was a life-long member of the Portland Church of Christ, serving as deacon and elder for many years.  He served on the Board of Directors at the Farmers Bank and the Portland Housing Authority.  He was a charter member of the Portland Lions Club and was active in civic and business affairs in the community.  He is survived by his wife, one son, three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Sept. 19, 2003 at the Portland Church of Christ.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.  Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Louise HENSON, 89, of White House died on Mon., Sept. 22, 2003 at her residence.  She was born in Louisville KY. on October 19, 1914 to the late Zola (DeWitt) and Walter Henson.  She was a homemaker.  She is survived by one daughter, one son, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held on Thurs., Sept. 25 at 1:00 PM at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Nell RUSSELL, 88, of Portland died on Tues., Sept. 23, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A Sumner Co. native, she was born on Dec. 30, 1914 to the late Ninnie (Wix) and Zalmon Odie Pike.  She was a homemaker.  She is survived by two daughters and three sons, two sisters, 10 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Sept. 26, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Louise LONG, 86, of Gallatin died on Sat., Sept. 27, 2003 at Brassell Home Care.  A native of Sumner Co., she was born on Feb. 6, 1917 to the late Bessie (Young) and A. I. Woods.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded death by her husband, Winford Long.  She is survived by two daughters, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Sept. 29, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Restlawn Memory Gardens.

Ronald Lee BRUMBAUGH, 83, of Morningside of Gallatin, formerly of Heber Springs, Ark., died on Mon., Sept. 22, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A native of St. Jo, Texas, he was the son of the late Susie (Austin) and Harry Brumbaugh.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Tew Brumbaugh and his brother, A. J. Brumbaugh.  He was a retired colonel from the United States Air Force, where he served for 30 years.  He was a member of the Old Union Church of Christ.  He is survived by one son, four granddaughters, and seven great grandchildren.  Services will be conducted in the Woodland Cemetery in Fairfield Bay, Ark.  Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home in Gallatin is in charge of all local arrangements.

Juanita H. SWANN, 88, formerly of Portland, died on Sun., Sept. 28, 2003 at Mariner Health of Wilmington, NC.  Born in Waco, Texas, she was the daughter of Maryetta (Dobbs) and Earl Simmons Haner.  She lived the majority of her adult life in Portland, where she and her husband, John, opened a print shop and began publication of the Sumner County Leader in 1954.  She was a longtime member of McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Portland Chamber of Commerce, the Garden Club and the Home Demonstration Club.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Swann of Portland and by two brothers, Harold W. Haner and Earl D. Haner, both of Bowling Green, KY.  She is survived by two sons, one brother, three grandsons, and three great-granddaughters.  A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date and interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland.

Juanita GANT, 70, of Indianapolis, Ind. died on Thurs., Sept. 16, 2003 at her residence.  She was born on Aug. 23, 1933 in Sumner Co. to the late Maggie (Bush) and Roy Russell Gray.  She was employed by RCA as an assembler.  She is survived by one daughter, two sisters, one brother two grandsons, one great-grandson, two step-grandchildren, nine nephews, five nieces, eleven great-nephews and seven great-nieces.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Sept. 19, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Sherron Cemetery.

Claude Edward (Bill) RIPPY, 55, of Bethpage died on Fri., Oct. 3, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A native of Sumner Co., he was born on March 26, 1948 to the late Virgie Bell (Davenport) and Claude Rippy.  He served in the U. S. Army and was a mechanic foreman for U-Haul.  He is survived by one daughter, two sons, two sisters, two granddaughters, one niece, and two nephews.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Oct. 6, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial as at Sherron Cemetery.

Betty Pilkerton Goodman PEARSON, 76, a resident of Westmoreland Care and Rehab Center, died on Fri., Oct. 10, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  She was born in Indianapolis, Ind. on Feb. 12, 1927 to the late Blanche (Hamilton) and Paul Pilkerton.  She was a homemaker.  She was married to Charles Goodman, who preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 1992 and later was married to Swaney Pearson, who preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2001.  She was a member of the Portland Church of Christ.  She is survived by two sons, one brother, and five grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Oct. 11, 2003 at Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home in Gallatin.  Burial was at Bush's Chapel Cemetery.

Bonnie Irene BRILEY, 85, of Portland died on Tues., Oct. 7, 2003 at Highland Manor.  She was born on May 5, 1918 in Macon Co. to the late Leona (Jenkins) and Haywood Brooks.  She was a homemaker.  She is preceded in death by her husband, O. M. Briley, Jr.; one son, Don Briley; one daughter, Loretta Briley; and grandson, Mark A. Briley.  She is survived by two daughters, two sisters, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Oct. 10, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

John William (Billy) JOHNS, 83, of Portland died on Mon., Oct. 20, 2003 at his residence.  A native of Franklin, Ky., he was born on March 20, 1920 to the late Velma (Snider) and William Henry Johns.  He served in the U. S. Army and was retired from Moore Motor Co.  He was a member of the McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church, the Portland Lions Club and a charter member of the Dogwood Hills Country Club.  He is survived by his wife, one brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Wed., Oct. 22, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.

James Raymond BRANHAM, 86, of the Rock Bridge community of Sumner Co., died on Fri., Oct. 24, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A native of Sumner Co., he was born on June 28, 1917 to the late Eunice (Crowder) and Lellard Branham.  He was a farmer and had served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant.  He received the EAMET Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his heroic actions in combat.  He was married to the former Alma Lee Hargis, who preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 2003.  He was also preceded in death by sisters Betty Brooks, Camy Baskerville and Hazel Hooker; brothers Clayburn, Esley, and James B. Branham; and half brothers Odie and Jimmy Harris.  He is survived by one son, two sisters, one brother, two grandsons, one step-grandchild, one great -grandchild, and one niece.  Funeral services were held on Sun., Oct. 26, 2003 at Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Gallatin.  Interment was at Crestview Memorial Park in Gallatin with a twelve-man United States Army detail performing full military honors.

Vicie BLANKENSHIP, 89, of Portland, formerly of Watertown, died on Mon., Oct. 27, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  A native of West Virginia, she was born on Sept. 11, 1914 to the late Sarah (Browning) and Alfred Blankenship.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by husbands Shellie Morgan, Jr. and Drewey Blankenship; children Lily Mae Joiz and Delmas Blankenship; and three brothers and sisters.  She is survived by five daughters, on son, four sisters, two brothers, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 7 great, great grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Thurs., Oct. 30, 2003 at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown.

Charles A. BAKER, 75, died on Sat., Nov. 1, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in a vehicular accident.  A native of Robertson County, he was born on Oct. 12, 1928 to the late Margaret (Lucas) and Macie Baker.  He was a retired woodcrafter.  He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Frank Hudson; one sister, Darlene Hassell; and one brother, Cordell Baker.  He is survived by five daughters, five sons, two sisters, , 21 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wed., Nov. 5, 2003 at Second Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in White House.  Visitation is from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the church prior to the funeral service.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.  Portland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra Faye FINN, 46, of Bowling Green, KY. died on Fri., Oct. 31, 2003 at her residence.  A native of Jefferson Co., Ky., she was the daughter of the late Bill Ray Finn.  She was a member of the Hillview Heights Baptist Church in Bowling Green and a former employee of Microtels.  She is survived by one daughter, one son, mother, 3 sisters, one brother, and one step-grandson.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Nov. 3, 2003 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Robert Harold GENTRY, 68, of Portland died on Thurs., Oct. 30, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  He was born on Jan. 3, 1935 in Springfield to the late Thelma (Deckard) Perdue and Marion Hubert Gentry.  He was a carpenter and had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, one son, one sister, one brother, and 3 grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sun., Nov. 2, 2003 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Effie Lee BROWN, 92, of Portland, died on Wed., Nov. 5, 2003 at her residence.  she was a homemaker.  She was born in Macon Co., on May 14, 1922, the daughter of the late Bernice (Norman) and Joseph Frank Lawson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Smith Brown, to whom she was married for 46 years.  She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Shrum and Donald Shrum, 5 brothers, L. B. Lawson, Chester Lawson, Raydean Lawson, Cordell Lawson and Roy Lawson; and one sister, Blanch White.  She is survived by two sons, one stepson, one stepdaughter, 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Nov. 8, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Florence L. FARMER, 92, of Portland, died on Mon., Nov. 10, 2003 at NHC Healthcare in Hendersonville.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Farmer.  She was a long-time member of portland General Baptist Church.  She was born on Mar. 6, 1922 in Sumner Co. to the late Mary Frances (Bennett) and William A. Dorris.  Survivors include one daughter, one son, one sister, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wed., Nov. 12, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  visitation Tues., Nov. 11 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Michael W. ANDREWS, 64, of Ocala, Fla. died on Wed., Nov. 5, 2003 at Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.  A native of Battle Creek, Mich., he was born on Aug. 6, 1939 to the late Winifred Isabel Claire (Huonker) and Michael Frederick Andrews.  He was a retired maintenance worker and was formerly employed by Jumbolair Farms and MedX.  As a young man, he was a drummer in Battle Creek area bands and later moved to Tenn. and played as a backup drummer on the Porter Wagoner Show.  He also played with Del Shannon, Frankie Sells, Bobby Edwards, Dolly Parton and other artists.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Winifred Andrews, in 1995 and by his brother, Larry Andrews in 1992.  He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, one daughter (of Portland) one son, one stepdaughter, one stepson, father, one sister, one brother, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  A memorial service was held on Mon., Nov. 10, 2003 at Ocala Word of Faith in Ocala, Fla.

Mildred Christeen SLAGER, 71, of Portland died on Mon., Nov. 17, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  She was born in Cookeville on March 27, 1932 to the late Odie Mae (Dunn) and Rufus Hunter.  She was formerly employed as a factory worker at Davis Cabinet.  Survivors include her husband, two daughters, three sisters, one brother, and four grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Thurs., Nov. 20, 2003 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Burial was a Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Nellie Mae SEARCY, 91, of Portland died on Wed., Nov. 19, 2003.  A native of Simpson Co., Ky., she was born on Aug. 26, 1912 to the late Florence (West) and Ammon Groves.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Searcy.  Survivors include one daughter, three sisters, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Nov. 22, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Helen Lorene KEITH, 80, of Portland died on Mon., Nov. 24, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  Her husband, Pate Keith, and a son, Harold Keith, preceded her in death.  She was born in Sumner Co. on Mar. 14, 1923 to the late Emma (Carmon) and Arthur Brown.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include one daughter, one daughter-in-law, five sisters, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wed., Nov. 26, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Visitation on Tues. after 10:30 AM.  Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Donald F. McKINNEY, 68, of Franklin, Ky. died on Sun., Nov. 16, 2003 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.  A native of Butler Co., Ky., he was the son of Lilly Mae (Brown) and the late Jack McKinney.  He was a former employee of Keystop, Inc., and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Quality, Ky.  He is survived by his wife, three sons, mother, two step-daughters, one step-son, one brother,  and two grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Nov. 21, 2003 at Union Baptist Church in Morgantown, Ky.  Burial was at the Union Church Cemetery.  Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky was in charge of arrangements.

James Lawrence WHEELEY, 90, of Portland died on Thurs., Nov. 27, 2003 at Skyline Medical Center.  A native of Macon Co., he was born on Jan. 27, 1913 to the late Roberta (Lawrence) and James Wheeley.  He was a farmer.  He is survived by:  one daughter, two granddaughters and one great grandson.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Nov. 29, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Erma A. MESSINA, 85, of Portland died on Fri., Nov. 28, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  A native of San Francisco, Calif., she was born on July 23, 1918 to the late Rose and Louis Martini.  She is survived by one daughter, one sister, one brother, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  The remains were cremated.

Sue COLEMAN, 70, formerly of Indianapolis, Ind., died on Mon., Nov. 24, 2003 at her home in Naples, Fla.  She had lived in Indianapolis for many years, prior to moving to Naples two years ago.  She retired from General Motors after 18 years of service.  She is survived by one daughter, two sons, five sisters (four from Portland), one brother, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sun., Nov. 30, 2003 at Fuller Funeral Home in Naples, Fla.  Burial was at Palm Royale Cemetery in Naples, Fla.

Edith Sherron STROTHER, 93, of Gallatin died on Tues., Nov. 25, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A Sumner Co. native, she was born on Aug. 25, 1910 to the late Ida (Dorris) and Willie Sherron.  Prior to her retirement, she worked at Genesco for 35 years.  She was one of the oldest members of the West End Missionary Baptist Church in Gallatin.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Owen Lee Strother, who passed in April of 1991.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Annie Duncan, and four brothers, Cecil, Walter, Raleigh, and Watson Sherron.  She is survived by one daughter of White House, one son of Elizabethtown, Ky, two sisters, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Nov. 28, 2003 at Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Gallatin.  Burial was at Crestview Memorial Park.

Odell Lorenzo BROWN, 96, of Newbury Park, Calif., died on Tues., Nov. 25, 2003.  A native of Tennessee, he was born on Sept. 27, 1907 to the late Lula Martha (Richardson) and William Jackson Brown.  He married Edna Bell Nobel in 1931 and was later divorced.  He then married Francetta Rustin on Aug. 20, 1950 at Forest Grove, Wash.  She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2001.  He was a commercial fisherman and also worked in the saw mills for several years.  He is survived by two sons and four grandchildren.  Graveside services were held on Sun., Dec. 7, 2003 at Old Brush Cemetery.

Lillian Katherine Summers SHOECRAFT, 86, of Beech Grove, Ind., died on Thurs., Dec. 4, 2003.  A native of Sumner Co., she was born on April 16, 1917.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewing Nelson Shoecraft.  She is survived by one daughter, one brother (of Bethpage) two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held on Dec. 10, 2003  at 11:00 A. M. at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial will be in New Halltown Cemetery.

Billy H. LANE, 75, of Winchester, Ky., died on Fri., Dec. 5, 2003.  A Portland native, he was born on July 5, 1928 to the late Myrtle (Cannon) and Owen Lane.  He was graduated from Western Kentucky University and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.  He retired after 38 years of employment with Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co.  He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Winchester, Ky.  He was also a woodoworker.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Christine West of Portland.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, two sons, a twin sister, one brother, and two grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 8, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Winchester, Ky.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Maynard D. BRILEY, 88, of Cottontown died on Fri., Dec. 12, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  A Sumner Co. native, he was born on Feb. 5, 1915 to the late Pearl (Boley) and Sam Briley.  He was employed as a bus driver with the Sumner Co. Board of Education.  He was Past Master of Cherry Mound Lodge and was a member of Halltown General Baptist Church for 60 years.  He is survived by his wife of Cottontown, two daughters, two sons, one sister-in-law, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 15 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Gladys Evelyn HARRIS, 72, of Portland died on Tues., Dec. 9, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A Sumner Co. native, she was born on April 19, 1931 to the late Martha (Perry) and Lonnie Carson Hodges.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Odie Harris; three sisters, Christine Key, Mary Higgins, and Sarah Hodges, and three brothers, Moore Hodges, Howard Hodges, and Lonnie Hodges.  She is survived by two daughters, two sons, three sisters, two brothers, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Dec. 12, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Old Brush Cemetery.

William Melvin STAGGS, 86, of Franklin, Ky. died on Thurs., Dec. 11, 2003.  A Tennessee native, he was born on August 11, 1917 to the late Ethyl Mae (Garrett) and Charles Bennet Staggs.  He was retired from Lawnlite as a general manager and served as a deacon of Mitchellville General Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his sons, Ruby Agnes Brown Staggs.  He is survived by his second wife of Franklin, Ky., two sons and six grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Dec. 13, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Mitchellville General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lamon Arlene CARTER, 89, of Portland died on Mon., Dec. 8, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  A Macon Co. native, she was born on Oct. 5, 1914 to the late Nerva Lee (Shrum) and Odell Carter.  She was a homemaker.  She is survived by her sister, two nieces, two nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were held on Thurs., Dec. 11, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Lou Ellen DULIN, 75, of Portland died on Thurs., Dec. 11, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A Sumner Co. native, she was born on Oct. 23, 1928 to the late Lorene (Crafton) and Roy Lamberth.  She was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilford (Skip) Dulin, one daughter, Wanda Dulin, and one son, David Dulin.  She is survived by one daughter and one son of Portland, two brothers, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sun., Dec. 14, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Guilford Louis SUTTLE, 85, of Portland died on Fri., Dec 19, 2003 at his residence.  A Sumner Co. native, he was born on Oct. 6, 1918 to the late Versie (White) and Clarence Suttle.  He was retired from United Structures of America and was also retired from Eaton Corp.  He was a member of Portland Masonic Lodge #326.  He is survived by his wife, two daughters, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.  A Masonic service was held on Sun., Dec 21, 2003.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 22, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Restlawn Memory Garden in the Masonic Garden section.

Richard Harry KENNEDY, 67, of Portland died on Mon., Dec. 22, 2003.  He is survived by his wife, two daughters, four sons, 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held on Fri., Dec. 26, 2003 at 2:00 P. M. at Portland Church of the Nazarene.  Pastor Rich Cook will be officiating, Cole & Garrett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Albert "Jack" TAYLOR, 79, of the South Tunnel Community of Sumner Co., died on Sun., Dec. 21, 2003 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.  A Sumner Co. native, he was born on Nov. 16, 1924 to the late Mary J. (McCullough) and Ray Taylor.  He was retired from Time DC Trucking Corp., where he worked for 31 1/2 years.  He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He was a member of the Gallatin American Legion and a member of Bush's Chapel Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, two daughters, two sisters, five grandcildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Tues., Dec. 23, 2003 at Anderson & Anderson Funeral Chapel in Gallatin.  Burial was a Bush's Chapel Cemetery.

Anna Marie HIBDON, 72, of Portland died on Fri., Dec. 19, 2003 at her residence.  She was born on April 17, 1931 to the late Mary Elizabeth (Byrd) and Hubert Perkins.  She was retired from Kmart as a cashier.  She is survived by one daughter of Portland.  A memorial services was held on Tues., Dec. 23, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  The remains were cremated.

Lou Edith JAMES, 81, of Portland died on Tues., Dec. 16, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland.  She was born on Nov. 9, 1922 to the late Etta (Groves) and John Duncan.  She had retired from the Dracket Co. where she was a supervisor.  She is survived by one sister of Cross Plains, one nephew and several ohter nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Dec. 20, 2003 at New Hope Church.  Burial was at New Hope Cemetery.  Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jesse Lee BEASLEY, 94, of Nashville died on Wed., Dec. 17, 2003 at Imperial Manor in Madison.  A Sumner Co. native, he was born on June 15, 1909 to the late Elzadie (Lancaster) and Charlie Beasley.  He was a retired grocer and had served in the U.S. Navy.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Beasley, and daughter Lois Fisher.  He is survived by two sons and one sister.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Dec. 20, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Restlawn Memory Gardens.

Janet Lavina DAVIS, 88, of White House, died on Wed., Dec. 17, 2003 at Tennessee Christian Medical Center of Portland.  A Sumner Co. native she was born on July 10, 1915 to the late Frankie Jane and Ellet Hinton.  She was retired from the shirt factory in Franklin, Ky.  She is survived by two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Dec. 20, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Venters Goodson KEEN, 84, or Portland died on Wed., Dec. 24, 2003 at Highland Manor.  A Sumner County native, he was born on April 9, 1919 to the late Dollie (Carter) and Erby Keen.  He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II in Europe.  He was retired from Bridgeport Brass.  He is survived by his wife, one son, three stepchildren, one sister, one brother, one granddaughter and five great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Dec. 27, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Halltown.

Corine May KEY, 72, of Portland died on Tues., Dec. 23, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A Sumner Co. native, she was born on November 15, 1931 to the late Nancy Ann (Morris) and Richard Roberts.  She was a homemaker.  She is survived by her husband, one daughter, two sons, one sister, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Fri., Dec. 26, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Portland Memorial Gardens.

Author Curtis CARTER, 89, of Portland died on Fri., Dec. 26, 2003 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A Smith Co. native, he was born on November 5, 1914 to the late Susie (Beal) and Alfred Carter.  He was retired from Kendall Co. in Franklin, Ky.  He is survived by two daughters, two sons, two sisters, one brother, ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 19, 2003 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was at Dixon Springs Cemetery.

Betty Lou Rogers, 66, of Franklin, Ky. died on Sun., Dec. 28, 2003 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.  A Robertson Co. native, she was the daughter of the late Blanch (Lawson) and Malon White.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis "Bill" Rogers.  She was self-employed.  She is survived by one son, one stepdaughter, three sisters, three brothers, three grandchildren, two step-grand-children and one step-great-grandchild.  Funeral services were held on Tues., Dec. 30, 2003 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Woodrow C. "Brownie" Gregory, 81, of Franklin, Ky. died on Thurs. Dec. 25, 2003 at the Westmoreland Nursing Facility in Westmoreland.  A Robertson Co. native he was the son of the late Sarah Elizabeth (Birdwell) and Henry Clay Gregory.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma Gregory, and son, Dan Cherry.  He is survived by three daughters, four sons, two sisters, 29 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 29, 2003 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.
