Mrs. Effie Simpkins Lane
PORTLAND, Tenn. - Mrs. Effie Simpkins Lane, 63, wife of Clem Lane, died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday at St. Thomas hospital, Nashville. She had been in ill health for some time. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Portland Baptist church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Charles Jolly, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Lane was a daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Simpkins and was a native of Springfield, Tenn. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Clem Lane Jr. of Nashville; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Bell of Springfield, and three brothers, Buford and Melvin Simpkins, both of Springfield, and Pearl Simpkins of Charlotte, Tenn.
