Know all men by these presents that I Richd C Johnson and wife Frances Johnson of Sumner County and State of Tennessee in consideration of the natural love & affection which we bear for our children John Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, David Johnson, Turner Johnson, Almira Johnson Albert Johnson Sarah Ann Johnson Ira Johnson and Richard Johnson and also for divers other good causes and considerations we the said Richard C Johnson and wife Frances Johnson hereunto moving have given granted and confirmed and by these presents do give grant and confirm unto the said John Johnson Elizabeth Albert Johnson Sarah Ann Johnson Ira Johnson and Richard Johnson the following named slaves equally between them (viz) Harriet and her increase also William & Jim To have and to hold and enjoy the same to the only proper use benefit & behoof of the said John Johnson Elizabeth Johnson David Johnson, Turner Johnson, Almira Johnson, Albert Johnson, Ira Johnson and Richard Johnson their heirs and assigns forever__ Witness our hands and seals this 5th day of October 1837 __
