This indenture made and entered into the Twenth day of June one thousand
eight hundred and Forty Six between James Short of the County of Sumner and
State of Tennessee of the one part and William Johnson of the County and
State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Short for and
in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by
the said Johnson at or before the signing and deboring of these presents
have bargained and sold unto the said Johnson a certain tract of land containing
by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows
(to wit) Beginning at a Post oak the North East Corner of said tract and
corner to three other tracts, running west one hundred and twenty two poles
to a dead Post Oak and pointers thence South 26 poles to a Post Oak thence
West 51 poles to a Black Jack in the field thence south crossing the cave
spring seventy four poles to a Red Oak and pointers thence East 173 poles
to a small oak and pointers, Jesse Skeens East boundary line of his McKempey?
tract thence North with his line 100 poles to the Beginning To have
and to hold the same to the said Johnson his heirs and assigns forever. I
the said Short do further covenant and bind myself to warrant and defend
the Right of said land to the said Johnson against the lawful claim or claims
of all or any person or persons whatever in witness whereof I have set my
hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written.

me O. H. Foster Clerk of the County Court of said County R. W. Bradley and
J. D. Johnson subscribing witnesses to the attach instrument who being first
sworne depose and say that they are personally acquainted with the wittnes
Jas. Short the bargainer and that he acknowledges the same in their presence
to be his act and deed for the purposes therein contained. Witness
my hand at office the 4 day of November 1878.
