Elizabeth Hughs To Sanford Fitts - Deed - 18 Acres

This indenture made February the 18th, the year of one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven, Elizabeth Hughes of the one part and Sanford Fitts of the other part, all of the county of Sumner and state of Tennessee. Witness that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to her in hand paid by the said Sanford Fitts, receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Elizabeth Hughes. She hath given, granted, bargained, & sold, convey & confirmed as by the present doth give, grant, bargain and seal, exfacie, convey & confirm unto the said Sanford Fitts, his heirs and assignees forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated, lying & being in said county of Sumner on Rocky Creek. The same being that part of a tract of land that George Duren, dec'd formerly lived in which was laid of by commissioners to the said Elizabeth Hughes designated to her by lot No. 5 bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake the South West corner of lot No. 4; running thence North 15 degrees West 20 poles to a stake the stake West corner of lot No. 6; thence North 70 West with the line of the same one hundred, and forty seven poles to a stake in Rocky Creek; thence down the land to a stake corner to lot No. 4; thence West wardly with the line of the same to the beginning containing by estimation eighteen acres of land which said eighteen acres of land be the same more or less with all its appurtenances thereunto belonging as in any wise appertaining unto the said Sanford Fitts, his heirs & assignees forever and the said Elizabeth Hughs, she doth for herself, her heirs, executors and warrant and forever defend, bounded land & premises unto the said, his heirs, & assignees forever free from the claim or demands of all and every person or persons whatsoever in witness whereof the said Elizabeth Hughs hath unto set her hand and seal this day & date first above written.
