This Indenture made this the Eighteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred & seventeen between Samuel Harper, Jr. of the County of Warren & State of North Carolina of the one part & John T. Kearney of the County & State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Samuel Harper for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth

hereby acknowledge himself therewith fully satisfied and paid hath given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed & confirmed & by these presents doth freely fully and absolutely give grant bargain & sell unto him the said John T. Kearney his heirs & assigns forever all that peace or parcel of land lying on the South side of the road leading from Grove Hill to Blake Bakers' beginning at a Red Oak on the road; thence up said road to a White Oak on the South side of the road near the Tavern House; thence nearly a S. W. course to a stake on the Meeting House path from thence a straight line to a White Oak near the Meeting House a corner tree from thence nearly North to a White Oak & Black Jack near the branch above Wyatt Williams' Spring from thence to the beginning containing Twenty five acres be the same more or less together with the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders and every part & parcel to the said land belonging to have & to hold the land premises to him the said John T. Kearney his heirs & assigns forever & I the said Samuel Harper for  myself my heirs or assigns do warrant & forever defend the right & title of the aforesaid parcel of land to him the said John T. Kearney free from the claim of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I the said Samuel Harper hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this day and date first above written.
